This reservoir on Cow Creek of slightly more than 600 acres finally filled with consecutive good water years. Located about seven miles northeast of Azalea on Upper Cow Creek Road, Galesville offers fair fishing for rainbow trout and landlocked coho salmon and usually good fishing for largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegills, and brown bullheads with pumkinseed sunfish also present.. Quite a few smallmouth bass are also taken. Lots of submerged trees at the northwest end and lots of standing timber at the upper end. Much of the shoreline has trees and logs running parallel to, but a ways out from, the shoreline that can make fishing the shoreline much tougher than on normal lakes. Galesvill is most likely near the end of its period of peak productivity and is one of the best spots in Oregon to catch a bass weighing more than eight pounds.
An RV park has been built on the lake and that should make it much easier to fish the lake at night and with its clear water, Galesville should be a very good nightfishing lake with anglers fishing for bass after dark having a much better chance at catching the reservoir’s very largest bass.
