This 4,300 acre reservoir on the Willamette River is 14 miles long and the upper end reaches to within about six miles of Oakridge. Infested with suckers and squawfish, it has produced fair catches of landlocked chinook salmon and rainbow trout and also hosts populations of largemouth bass, white crappie and brown bullheads, but not many are caught. However, some of the bass and crappie are huge (approaching state record size.) Highway 58 follows the south side of the reservoir. In 2008, walleyes were found in the reservoir including some small ones obviously spawneed in the reservori. In late 2009, a number of people began targeting the walleys and some good catches were made with the largest ones weighing around six pounds. Hopefully, these predatory fish will concentrate their foraging on the reservoir’s strong pikeminnow population.
