The Lewis and the Washougal are no different then any other rivers, they all have Runs of Salmon, Steelhead, Shad, Smelt, and the year around Smallies. I've heard of Salmonids but never caught or fished for them. Where to fish, I am not sure. I have barely fished the Washougal and I have never fished the Lewis before.

I would stick to bank fishing. Shad are like Salmon, they run through once maybe twice a year and thats it. I would recommond Fishing off a dock and use a 3 way swivel and a 8oz Lead weight and toss a dick nite out just like the dropshot method just make sure the dick nite is about a foot away from the swivel at all times.

For steelies, try Blue Foxs #5 during the summer runs and use Bobber and Jig during the Winter runs, or the accational egg bouncing method.

For salmon It is best to be in boat, but if your trying for Silvers or Pinks, Use w/e everyone else is using. The ppl who are fishing for Salmon most likely know what they're doing. Whether there using shrimp or eggs, or corkys and yarn.

Smallies can be fished many different ways. For instance, I use the dropshot method but instead of using plastics I use real Night Crawlers and I have had moderate success. Soft Plastics are what most ppl use year round for smallies. I myself havent had much success, but I havent given up on plastics neither. I recently had a hook up with a nice smallie using a Blue Fox, but it jerk free at the last second.

No clue on Salmonid, small spinners may work best.
If in doubt set the hook!

Do you live by the East Fork of the Lewis? A record Steelhead was caught there. 32 lbs.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
