Side Planers

Post by northfork » Sat Jun 07, 2008 6:00 am

Any of you guys use side planers?
I bought one last year and never tried it out.
Just bought some Hotshots and Kwikfish the other day.
I'm going to give it a try this evening. The problem is I'm stuck fishing a back eddy right now and doubt that I can keep it in the currant seam ( edge).
Hopefully the river will drop enough I can wade the side channel and get down river to a nice slot and try it there.
Any tips or suggestions would be cool.

My only tip is to hold on to your rod tight. If the planar gets caught in some strong current, the force can (unexpectedly) yank the rod right out of your hands and into the river.

Now that is a valuable piece of information seeing as I'm using my new custom rod ( $240) and new reel ( $130).
Thanks a ton.#-o
