My sturgeon report
Hello all, I thought i would start this thread for my sturgeon trips. This past weekend my wife and I went out on the Chahalis to do a little sturgeon fishing. Now ya need to know i'm not a rookie when it comes to catching sturgeon. I have caught many, many ,many sturgeon in my life.....Not this weekend. The tide was still going out so we anchored above one of my hunny holes that typicaly produce some fish. My wife had never caught a leagle fish.......yet. Well long story short it was
Becki 5, Don 0.....With a nice 48"er to take home.

RE:My sturgeon report
Hey Reelnut your post got me and a friend to drive down from seattle for a little chehalis sturgeon action. Fished a under the south montesano bridge near the boat launch for a few hours. We were only able to pull up bullheads, the bait we were using was sand shrimp. We wanted to try out friends landing but was not able to find it in the dark lol. Maybe next time out.
RE:My sturgeon report
Well I took few friends from work out on the Chehalis on Sat. There was alot of sturgeon jumping but not very many biters.
My friend Shawn was able to land his first sturgeon ......1 1/2" short.

KEEP UR LINE TIGHT SO U CAN FEEL THE BITE!!!!!
RE:My sturgeon report
Sturgeon fishing can be the funnest fisherie. Even when they are not on the bite the solitude is worth the time.
RE:My sturgeon report
I want to go sturgeon fishing but know nothing. Do you have any tips on what to use,set ups and best times of year. I dont have a boat so I will be on shore.
RE:My sturgeon report

RE:My sturgeon report
There is a video on our site for Columbia sturgeon fishing. A lot of it is an infomercial for an anchor system but there is also some useful information.Shane wrote:I want to go sturgeon fishing but know nothing. I'm not sure how your schedule looks,I'm booked for a short while but I'd thrown in some gas money etc.
If I was even able to see someone else catch one,I'd be happy.

On Sunday the 28th of Sept, there is a very good early morning tide. At 6.22 am it is a -0.1. It takes about 55 minutes for the tide to change up where I fish on the Chehalis so if you guys, (kevinb Shane or vancouverhandyman, i can only take two) want to let me know if your interrested it cost $20 doller a piece and that covers bait and gas.
RE:My sturgeon report
I took a good friend from work out on saturday and he caught his first keeper sturgeon.....49"
He still has to work on his hook setting though.

RE:My sturgeon report
So............on Friday. Me and two good friends went up to fish one of my fav holes on the Chehalis for my first night fish for strgeon. We started off with a double bite within the first ten minutes of dropping the anchore and shawn reeling in a 41" er.....almost but not enough. I then got a hook up that took me about ten minutes to fight with it coming out of the water twice behind the boat and then ripping line out and snapping my main. My first fish of the evening went between 7'to 8'. We were all pumped by then . I rebaited my line , tossed it back in and i swear it wasnt in 5 minutes and my pole stared going again. I set the hoock and as soon as I did I was like "you've got to be kidding". That fish almost spooled me twice trying to get it into the boat........64". Nice fish but 4" to long. Sooo after all the high fives and the amazement that we have had two fish in 30 minutes on that were over size. I toss my line in again and I am not joking 5 minuts later. My pole start to get hit again and again anouther oversized fish........man my shoulders were getting tired.
I have never had 3 oversized fish on in one night on the Chehalis. I did end up catching one fish that was just over 42". But boy what a wonderful night for fishing and good times.
