We gave it a go on Sunday and no one seemed to be doing any good. The fish were rolling but not biting, and they were already fairly dark.

The schedules didnt work out between my friend and I, so we havnt been able to go. We were able to hit up the Green/duwamish one day after work. We saw a bunch of dark kings rolling as well.

The launch is part of the State park and it is supposed to open at 6:30am during the Summer months. If you get there before the gates open, just hang out in the turn lane with your hazards on until they park attendant gets there and unlocks the gate. There are about 8 launch lanes so it goes pretty fast.

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Below the 405 bridge it opened on Sept. 1st. Above the 405 bridge you get the "staggered start" opening dates, beginning with October 1st, that I can't wrap my head around. I swear they come up with these dates just to increase ticket writing potential.

Headed to Sammy this morning thinking it was an ideal time after all the rain we received and it was high time for me to actually catch a salmon. Was surprised to see the gates open at 6:10 this morning and the large flood light in the parking area was strange. Thought they were doing some sort of maintenance, but turns out it was the Native Americans that had been netting all night. All but two lanes of the launch were tied up with moored boats and front loaders. The few other guys showing up with me seemed to look around and leave. One guy was trying to sell his launch ticket that he'd already purchased. He said the nets had been out all night and it wasn't worth fishing. I decided to head home. Luckily I didn't have far to travel. Got about half way home and decided to turn back and observe the operation to see if it really was not worth going out. Sat in the parking area for a bit and as it got lighter, could see that with the amount of nets in the water, there was no way I was going to be able to navigate out there. It looked like the few boats that were going out were heading up the lake. Not an option for me. Headed home and got my bass gear and hit Pine Lake. Stopped by Sammy again on my way home about 10:30 and all the nets seemed to be off the water and the Native Americans were packing up.
I'm thinking I'm not destined to catch a salmon this year. :eye: :-({|=

What a waste! The only things those fish are good for at this stage is pet food, crab bait or fertilizer. I'm betting that the number of Issaquah Creek fish harvested by the Muckelshoots far outweighed the number harvested by the sports and commercial anglers.

When you get that salmon from the store that says Muckleshoot Seafood Company on the label, you'll know it's quality! :thumleft:

Yummy! :-&
