There are times that I will cut my leader and leave hooks in the fishes mouth. Most species of salmon and Steelhead have a certain acid in their systems that will disolve a hook .I agree with the both of you. Once you get scales on your hands that fish is really toast. Once scales are removed first infection sets in. All too often I see guides wearing gloves and letting their customers hold a fish out of water for a photo shoot. All kinds of these things happen daily. Its more then just releasing a fish that makes a difference. There are right ways and of course wrong ways.
