THFWA Sues WDFW for Closed Door Meetings!

Post by Bay wolf » Fri May 10, 2019 9:07 pm

The Twin Harbors Fish and Wildlife Advocacy (THFWA) issued a press release today announcing a filing against WDFW for setting salmon seasons behind closed doors.

Many agree that the North of Falcon Process is dysfunctional and that the Departments rampant culture of secrecy is expanding. With the system as is, the secret deals and public prohibition from meetings, we've been forced to "accept" the results, rather than truly be a part of the solution.

Today's announcement is the beginning of a new possibility. A possibility where back room deals and closed door meetings are ended. A possibility where the citizens are an equal partner in the process and can once again be part of the solution to the problems rather than the victims of its corruption.

It is frighting to some. Some will worry that this could be the end to sport fishing. I assure you, it will not. It will expose the mis-deeds and skullduggery that has poisoned our fisheries. It will allow the greater public to see how much the sport fishing community cares for and contributes to our resources. It will make things better.

Many of you know the Advocacy for their work in the past in fighting for the rights of the sports fishermen. They are a solid, reputable non-profit organization of sportsmen.

I invite everyone to visit the Advocacy's web site and read about their lawsuit.

If you feel so inclined. I humbly ask you to help by making a contribution to off set the legal expenses. These are volunteers, and all monies will be used to help defray legal costs.

May 16, 2019 Update- Interrogatory filed, discovery into WDFW season setting practices begins

The Advocacy has filed its initial interrogatory, opening the first round of discovery in the legal challenge to WDFW's tribal co-management season setting practices. WDFW has 30 days to respond and provide the information and documents requested. It's truly an interesting read. The interrogatory is available for viewing Here and the other court documents filed previously are available on the right here:http://thfwa.org/legal-issues
