Marshall Lake Rendezvous Wrap-Up

Post by Lotech Joe » Sun Jun 21, 2009 11:48 am

Wouldn't it be great to be paid as well, for being wrong as often, as the weather man? They had promised good weather till Sunday afternoon, but that just didn't pan out. Saturday was a beautiful day, but Friday had showers off and on all day. I think I went fishing 4 times that day, between showers. As always, these kind of outings make a great venue for meeting people and making new friends. There wasn't as many folks there as I had expected, but I feel like all who were there have become my newest fishing buddies. Great folks, one and all. A few pictures follow;

A great big thank you to John Campbell and crew at The Pend Oreille Valley Sportsman, for their generous donation to our outing-

I lost my dad in 1999, so I took his fishing rod with me to get it wet for the first time in over 10 years. The rod performed well, but the fish didn't. Oh well, there is always next time out.

I cooked Italian Meatloaf in the dutch oven, spaghetti for a side dish, and steamed asparagus as a vegie. It all came together better than I had expected. I wanted to get some pictures of the meal all laid out, but I forgot. I guess I'll have to go back next year and do it again. I had dinner both Friday and Saturday night with VHMLLC and his wife Pam and daughter Gabby. I really enjoyed their company and count myself as fortunate for having met them.

This outing, even with the rain, was a smashing success as far as I'm concerned, and I'm planning on doing it again next year. Only 364 days to go.

Tight Lines,
God Bless,
and C'yall later,

Joe

Thanks Joe for organizing this event, and for everyone that attended - the "Eastside WL.com" gang. Nice to see we have fanatics on both sides of the state!

It was a great outing - no doubt. My only regrets are we couldn't do more than a day and I didn't take the time to grab some photos while there. :-" At least we were fortunate on the one day we could make it, we had the best weather of the weekend - maybe a little Divine Intervention at work. :bball:

We'll be there next year for sure, and most likely some other times before summer is done.

Nice summary Joe...I'm really glad to hear it was a success. It's hard to 'screw up' such a good thing...especially when it's shared!

I must say i'm not part of the "east side crew" but my family and i where made to feel VERY welcome and right at home.

The lake perfect. The fish very tasty. The company was great. The meatloaf was almost gone, we would have finished it but joe had to take some home. All in all the best fathers day i've had in 12 years.

Thank you Joe for making the first post on this trip. We had a blast, In fact, so much so that the 16 hour round trip from vancouver was hardly noticable.

those that didnt make it you missed a great weekend.

untill next year.

Looks like a nice place and I am glad you all had a good time with only rain part time.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

You know...one of these days we'll have to meet somewhere in the middle with the East side and the West side WL.com members...that would be a SWEET outing!

Good idea. Start planning now. There isn't much to putting it together. All you have to do basically is post that you're going fishing and would anyone like to join me. Find a nice lake suitable for all water craft, with good camping facilities (meaning lots of shade w/electrical hookups) and a decent launch. Go for it! It'll be fun.
