I've got two 24"s at work, it is nice and works great for the work I do, but the only reason I can see to have two monitors at home would be so my daughter could watch Dora online and I could still get stuff done!
Thanks for all the input - I am now figuring out where I can carve out room for a desktop, and how much I want to take out of the boat-fund to go to the computer..

Hey Quad, Have you done a thurough cleaing of the machine?
Blow some compressed air thru the cooling fan and vents.
I also like to wipe my hard drive and reinstall windows when things start getting bunged up. To much crap get installed over time, registry errors and such. I do this once ever few years. Im currently doing this to half the machines at home. It makes a big difference and doesnt cost anything.

Hey Gringo,
Borrowing a phrase from the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers.
"Always remember that a boat will get you through times with no computer much better than a computer will get you through time with no boat...

I built my PC back 5 years ago still working strong I do not edit or anything of that sort with it. But i built this system for gaming. everything is completely upgradeable and easy to do so also. Fry's there is one in Renton is my favorite store to shop at as I like to touch what I want to buy. As for what is hot right no I have no clue this system I have is fast enough for what I do and I am on the system alot for a desktop. I do prefer intel over AMD chips sets and I also prefer ATI over Nvidia for video cards thats my preference though. I would be more then willing to put it all together for you. I have done it Plenty times before. and it is easy everything has a Slot. hard to mess up. I do have a legit copy of Vista and also one of the Offices. I forgot which one I will have to find my disk for it...
I have a work laptop that is a toshiba lenvono t61 this thing is tonka tough I dropped on the road left on top of my car opps dropped on the concrete numours time I like to call it the energizer bunny takes a licking and keeps on ticking or is that timex something like that my wife is going to get a MAC for Xmas if I get my new pistol and rifle set! MAC I do love also although expensive when you are dealing with Lap tops they are all expensive parts wise cheaper is most cases less reliable. Macs have done my friends and family Proud over the years.
I built my system a few years ago for less than 1k and was without the monitors I video card was 400 something it's self. all for gaming 1g video card were expensive when they were first coming out lol...
but I had a spare beatup case...
building your own PC The MOST important part is your power supply they better you get the better and more stable the system will be with any hardware conflicts for power useage! I believe I am running a 850 on this one!
