2.5" Buzzbomb I've caught them on blue pearl, pink pearl, but mostly on chrome. I ditch the rubber bumber for a red bead, add a split ring, and use a barbless 1/0 sickle siwash.

I know on Whidbey a lot of guys use slip floats and herring.

Either option will work, it is up to you on how you prefer to fish.

Good luck.

Live herring under a float or any combination of buzz bombs/Pt. Wilson Darts or Zingers.

It really depends on where I'm fishing and how big the bait is....

A9 makes a good point. I have a lot of candle fish where I fish, hence the chrome 2.5" Buzzbomb.

Bush Point has tons of pinks right now. Your best bet at picking up a coho as well as some pinks is to use a 2.5" pink pearl Buzz Bomb. You wouldn't want to fish a float in that mess.

On West Beach or Fort Casey I would try the float and herring. I've never caught a coho with that method because I never really fished it and have great success with the Buzzbombs (20+ coho from shore this year). If I were going down to the island for coho, I would give that a try. I know from reports that guys have been doing decent with this method. A pair of 9lbers were caught at Ebey's landing a couple weeks back. go to www.tedssportscenter.blogspot.com I think the report is on his blog.

Good luck.

yeah I've caught more than enough pinks. Just changing to a pink pearl buzz bomb will attract the silvers instead of the pinks?

I have been using the 3" buzz bombs from the beach - caught coho on pink, white w/pink stripe, & white w/green stripe this season. I see most people are using the smaller buzz bombs, has anyone fished the different sizes side by side to tell if there really is that big of difference?
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

I think the 2" would be better for attracting pinks vs the 3". They are pretty agressive so it may not matter at all.

The white w/pink stripe BB is the pink pearl, the white w/ green stripe is green pearl, the blue pearl work as well. I caught my first coho off the beach with blue pearl 2.5".

I picked up some 3" Pink Buzzbombs from k-mart for $0.45 each! I'm glad to hear that they are working. It was a deal I could pass up.

It will increase your chances of picking up a coho for sure and yet keep you busy catching pinks.

fishndude has a picture up on Walakes somewhere where he's holding up a nice big king and a bright silver. I think he caught both on a standard chrome-ish kastmaster.

I really enjoy the look and action of the Krokodile. I think its pretty much very similar to Kastmasters.

I have been using mostly the 2 incher over the 2.5 incher. I noticed that the 2.5 incher takes alot of work to jig it. The 2.5 incher is more prone to snagging seaweed where I fish. The feel of the lure when I am working it also feels a lot heavier.

I have been told that the Blue Fox Pixee spoons or Vibrax spinners can catch them in rivers. It might work in the salt too.

From Ted's Blog

Coho Hitting Whidbey Beaches
Many of the Island folks have dropped by the past couple of days and it sounds like the coho beach fishing has gotten into the full swing mode. Fishermen are connecting with them fishing floats and herring, Buzz Bombs, Wanabees and spoons. There are lots of nice sized fish in the 8 - 13 pound range and we are looking to see some really nice fish in the high teens to even the low twenties in the weeks to come. Reports from Seiku and Neah bay have been fantastic with a good number of these larger fish being caught.

This holiday weekend should show some very good fishing from the Island with the reports that we have been getting. Don't forget your rain gear as it looks like we may be getting wet for a few days.

One on a pink buzz bomb and one on a pink pearl bomb. Both 2". Close to if not as many silvers were caught as pinks.
