Independence and North Lakes

Anybody fish these lakes, particularly North Lake? I know people on here have fished independence with success, especially with bigger trout. I was wondering if the hike beyond independence to North is worth it?

Thanks!

Re: Trip to Baker Lake

Definitely low. This time of year it's usually low, but not that low.

Lost (Devils) Lake? Chain Lake?

Anybody here fish any of these lakes in Snohomish County? I'm trying to decide where to go tomorrow, and these two small lakes looked promising. Just wanted some feedback from the people who've fished it. Any size to the trout? I heard they both have Cutts along with the planted Rainbows.

Thanks

Re: New toy for cohos

The Fenwick HMX is an awesome rod for 100 bucks. The features and quality of the rod are quite remarkable for the price point. I have a 9 6 medium, moderate fast rod and it great. Sensitive, casts like a dream, and has plenty of backbone to turn a fish. Highly recommend.

Re: Coho Rod

I have a 9 6 HMX medium, moderate fast action. Very, very nice. Sensitive, casts a mile, has plenty of backbone as well. The TAC handle is awesome as well. Very quality rod. I highly recommend.

Re: powerbait vs. lures or flies

it could be interpreted that bait fishing is less skillful than using lures and flies. Personally, I like casting and retrieving much more than sitting and waiting.
Also, using bait restricts you to 5 fish (or whatever the limit is) Lures and flies do not.

Blue Lake (Mt. Baker Area)

Anybody here fish this? How is the fishing? Do you think it would be frozen right now? Thinking about going today.

Thanks!

Re: Your Top 3 Lures for Trout (lakes)

There's a "knock off" of the kastmaster called the Johnson Splinter. It's the same shape, with better hooks, for a dollar or so less money.

Does anyone else throw various spoons? If i'm not trolling, I think this method works awesome. Kastmasters are really hard to beat.

Re: Your Top 3 Lures for Trout (lakes)

I see, makes sense. I've heard they work great. The website said they could be used as a lure, so wasn't sure if they carried any weight to them to be able to cast.
