Re: Long time member Tje Jigmeister passes.

I was honored to fish with Jiggy once. He took to me some of his spots and using his plastics we got into some slab crappie. He will be missed, I am sure he is already landing slabs in some small ponds up there. RIP Jiggy

Re: Need info on fishing Black Lake in Olympia.

Black lake is an excellent fishery. One of the best small mouth lakes around. Also plenty of large mouth. It is stocked with thousands of trout every year, also decent for crappie, perch, and catfish.

Re: new to saltwater fish. what those at Mukilteo pier...

That sucks that was a lot of fun for us as kids, we also used the pile worms been bitten my fair share of times those suckers hurt. We would easily catch 20 or more in 30 minutes, then once the tide came in they were gone.

Re: new to saltwater fish. what those at Mukilteo pier...

Those are Pile Perch, I used to catch them when I was a kid. They usually show up about 45 minutes before high tide. The best bait are the little crabs you can pick up from shore.

Re: Questions on Kayak fishing

I have a cheap sit on top fishing kayak I bought at sportsman warehouse when they first opened! Retail price was around $300. I take it out in the sound, well Boston harbor, in the Summertime. I load 1 or 2 crab pots on it no problem, along with a fishing pole. You will get wet with a SOT, I always ...

Sorry you can no longer pitch a tent. What we do is put our chairs out, and if we need to sleep we take turns sleeping in the vehicle.

Hood canal crabbing

I've never crabbed out of hood canal. I want to go on my kayak this weekend. Is it safe for a kayak? Should I worry about tides? How much rope should I use? I'm sure I can find a launch but will take any suggestions. TIA.

Shrimp!

I understood Saturday was the last day to shrimp around hoodsport. Now looking seems the season is closed! My little bro is coming to town this weekend. Can we still shrimp near hoodsport? Or anywhere shrimping is still open Saturday?
