Fly fishing in near Denver, in January?

I just got the invite to work at the Denver fly fishing show in January. I will have a couple extra days at the end of my trip to hopefully get my line in the water, and hit up boulder and have some tasty beers. I know greater Seattle has a lot of Colorado transplants, what fishing options are there...

Re: Ashland lakes near Granite falls/Verlot??

I will check them out, we ended up hiking to heather lake instead Saturday morning. I couldn't get any takers at the lake itself, but while doing the lake loop. There was a pond on the north side (very shallow and muddy) i saw a fish rise, squeezed a cast off and got a fat 11" cutt and missed anothe...

Re: Ashland lakes near Granite falls/Verlot??

Did you make it up to lower ashland ? I am debating trying it out tomorrow is the weather doesn't get too wet. I hear that boardwalk walk trail can be treacherous when wet.

Re: FALL STOCKING ON THE WEST SIDE

really, Gissberg ponds are the only Snohomish county lakes getting stocked.... my favorite part is, "which offers anglers the opportunity to skip the shopping malls, get outside and enjoy fishing on the day after Thanksgiving. " haha couldn't have picked better lake to get away from all that black F...

Snohomish county, beaches for pinks

I am going to hopefully hit the beach this week and try muck for a pink from the shore. i always hear about guys being successful over on Whidbey. i was thinking, meadowdale county park, picnic point or mukilteo beach. Do the tides matter or will the pinks cruise the shore regardless? i was thinking...

Re: Gas motor lakes near Cle Elum?

you may be stretching a hour and a half here but I would look into deep lake at sun lakes state park. there are some big fish in that lake if you troll deep in the canyon and the bowl at the end of the lake has some decent Kokanee fishing.

Re: Skagit Sockeye vs Skykomish Steel

i tried all up and down the Snohomish by Thomas eddy park down to the "donkey show hole" both sides of the river and at different tides, on the sky behind the prison (also on both sides of the road) i have tried under the bridge at Ben Howard rd and the were the Wallace dumps into the sky. (i manage...

Skagit Sockeye vs Skykomish Steel

Calling myself a piss poor salmon fisherman would be a compliment. I managed to go 2 pink salmon seasons, 20 days on the water and nothing but a bullhead to show for it. (hopefully this year i can get at lease one) But I refuse to give up, I have Friday morning to hit the water and feel like attempt...

Re: Small Streams and Creeks

I use a 4 weight rod, 3lb leader (not tapered just plain fluorocarbon leader) that's about 4ft long and a fluffy size 14 royal coachman. You can't go wrong in smaller west side mountain creeks with setup. Keep your leader short for easier placement and control on the small water and where back casti...

Re: would you use a boat left on the shore of a secluded lak

Wow I guess I am really out of the general consensus on this subject. :-k If I left an old boat on the shore of a public lake on public access (in the woods not a public swim beach or anything like that) I would expect other people to use it, and as long it was back how I left it I wouldn't mind in ...

would you use a boat left on the shore of a secluded lake?

after a morning of fishing with Quadfather and Motoboat, the the pond we were at had two abandoned (but in good condition) boats on the shore. Motoboat informed me that one of that has oars and is not chained/locked, he asked if i would fish with this strangers boat. I personally would fish with the...

Re: I know I am not the only one with this problem!!

i am all good she has no problems with me getting some fishing in, its just the 3+ times a week she frowns on. I am completely happy with a weekly outing (we both go). if only my job could be fly fishing..
