treat them like you would a large old catfish, either soak in light salt water brine or buttermilk over night. Takes away the old muddy iron taste.

Re: To the Gentleman ....

If this on the Duwi I know of the jerk you speak of. He purposefully did a high speed 360 around me while I was on my toon Sunday. He did it fairly close then took off. I do not believe that he was able to hear my gentle words to him. :)

if you catch the fish and have someone else remove the hook you will be fine. If you keep it be sure to punch your own card. Absolutely nothing saying that someone else can not remove the hook as long as you are the one doing the hooking and fighting. If it was illegal to do this then their would be...

Re: Best line for downrigger rods

I dont own any DR rods myself but in recent history every down rigger rod I have touched has been spooled with 50lb power pro braid. The guys that owned the gear swore by the braid.

there is a big market for exporting eggs. My wife worked for a distribution company a while back that sold styro packaging materials and she sold a ton to the tribes for roe to be shipped back to Japan and China.

anywhere there is available parking on either levee road or river road. Be careful as to not park in private areas or marked no parking. You can park at the soccer fields, there is a dude charging 5 bucks to park in the field, guarantees you will not be towed. Plus its a fish just about every cast d...

Guess its a good thing that I will not be able to fish it until next weekend, cuz I plan on using lots of bait. Have shrimp and eggs cured and ready to go.

if it was a zoo last year you can bet it will be more of a zoo this year. How many of those that were there will return with their friends this year? Its going to happen. A lot of rivers are having puny runs which only result in more guys/gals looking else where.

Re: Fisherman lures Bald Eagle with fish...it's takes his ho

I know that the eagles around Mineral lake are always looking for an easy meal, I have seen them snatching up trout after they have been released. One of the pieces of nature I love about that lake.

Re: Biggest Fish

Lets see there was a 26 lb cat out of the snake when I was 16 on trout gear, a fish I will never ever forget and a mid 20's king when I was 12, I didnt know it at the time because it was my first salmon but that thing was a serious boot, I carried it home for about 5 miles. As soon as I walked thru ...

Re: Help a salmon noob! LOL

Thanks Chrome. When you say "walk it down"...what exactly should I be doing? Walking toward the fish as I'm reeling in my line? if the fish is pulling line or is fighting hard then yes slowly walk down river. Not that you should have to unless its a big guy headed back to the salt but there will al...

Re: Help a salmon noob! LOL

stay above the power lines across from Freeman Rd. Plenty of fish being caught at the Serta hole on Levee rd. As for techniques, well go down and see what they are using. It is a technique best not discussed on the board. Weight, swivel, leader and corkie(s). Figure out the size and length when you ...

Re: The Anti-Pink Thread

I for one will be taking my wife out for her first salmon experience this year. I would rather teach her with a 5lb pink then a big king or feisty ho. My boys are also looking forward to a fish every other cast. For myself, well its all about the eggs.

The puyallup is picking up. Seeing a lot of fish coming out. A few kings and even some early silvers in the mix.
