Re: First time fly fishing, Montana

Already had planned in stopping in that store, actually, as it was recommended to me before, so thanks for the additional recommendation! I guess what I am really looking for is a place to set up camp close to where we'll be fishing. We dont plan on moving around much as we'll only be there a few da...

First time fly fishing, Montana

Looking for some brief but informative guidance for fly fishing in Montana. My brother and I are escaping the daily grind for a week in late July, and although he's fly fished some in the past, I never have, and neither has my 10 yr old son. I was looking at the Missoula or Butte areas (either works...

Duwamish in the news.

Found this to be an interesting (and a bit unnerving) read.

best bet for bank only coho this weekend?

Got a free day (maybe 2) sunday-monday and looking to catch some silver. Dont know anything about twitching, but I can go with bobber/jig, and I've also got a grip of cured eggs. Also never fished any of the coastal rivers, and while the pinks have my smoker busy (and plenty of eggs) I am trying to ...

Also,.....If your Jack is a wild king then you have to release it too. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Not true. Cant cut/paste from my phone, but the regs for the puyallup state 'release wild adult CHINOOK'. I know as I had to double check the regs the other day when I caug...

Maybe a stupid question, but where exactly does purdy creek dump into the Skok? Having a hard time finding it on maps on the internet.

Re: Green/Duwamish Netting?

Majority of the fish rolling this morning were bronze/boot kings. Sorry very little chrome, and the 3 hours I was there I only saw one small jack caught. Threw everything but the kitchen sink with only one hit on drifted eggs this morning. Might be the egg cure but might just be few fish this mornin...

Re: Green/Duwamish Netting?

Going to hit it at first light tomorrow, my catch card is still empty this year. :(

Wow! I didn't realize the river dropped THAT much at low tide. Definitely changes the perspective on where not to fish lol

Re: Green/Duwamish Netting?

This was my first trip to the Green, and the tide was still coming in so it was hard to scout. I did see what looked like a big pile of rocks just below the bridge, in the middle (guessing that is whay you are referring too?) Is it easier to fish the west (freeway) side in that area? I noticed fishi...

Re: Green/Duwamish Netting?

I fished from Boeing (112th) up to the community center today. No nets, and few fish. Saw an occasional roll, mostly dark with a few chrome (very small chrome). Didn't see anyone catch anything, except this little tyke. little_fish.jpg Almost embarrassing to be fishing for salmon and catch this, and...

Sockeye to be reintroduced to the Skokomish

I searched and didn't see anything posted about this. First posted on KOMO's website 2 months ago, July 13th, and updated last week. Interesting reading, to put it mildly... http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Sockeye-salmon-to-be-returned-to-Skokomish-River-266937611.html" onclick="window.open(this....

Re: Public rights on rivers in EVERY state

A good idea to have a GoPro or similar, even a smart phone camcorder, mounted on the boat/pontoon/vest/whatever when you float by a known trouble spot. Being polite and courteous, as well.

Video ALWAYS makes a more solid case in court...

Re: Pierce county area clamming?

Yes, thats it. Make sure you view the map on wdfw, property to the north gets private after a ways. Also check the link on wdfw to the dept. Of health safety page, it should take you to the page for that beach to tell you if it is safe for harvest. Green means go. :)

Re: Pierce county area clamming?

Only one I personally know if is out by Allyn, on 302. It is actually in a community called Victor, across the water from Allyn. I think it is North Cove Beach on the wdfw site. there is a wdfw access just north of the powerlines that cross the water there, and the best clamming was to the north of ...

Re: puyallup opening

Saw one fish hooked and fought for about 10 seconds today before it spit the hook. Pretty good sized fish, too.

Nothing much in the river yet, but they are there. Maybe we'll get some rain tonight to bring more fish into the river.
