Re: Couple interesting developments that are relevant to us.

The cost of public sector pensions will drag down services. Pensions were over-promised during the Bush years and we will most likely see things get worse unless taxes go up. Blaming someone who hasn't been in office for 6 years and taking more of everybody's money will not solve anything. If they ...

Re: Boat advice.

You need to decide what the boat will be used for. Will it be just for fishing or do you need more of a family boat. Also where you plan to fish will matter. Are you planning to stick to small lakes or largers ones or maybe river fishing. I had a 17' ranger that worked well for most situations, but ...

Re: river wading for smallmouth

You will be going west out of Colfax. There will be a bridge then a road off to the right, I believe it is called W River Dr. It goes through a construction yard and gravel pit. The area by Eels park might work also but I have never fished there. Don't mention the help. I don't believe in keeping my...

Re: river wading for smallmouth

I found Colfax and the Palouse River on Google and would like to give it a try. Can you be more specific as to where in Colfax I should get in and try. A road crossing or other landmark would be helpful. Thanks for being so generous with your information. Starting in Colfax, take highway 26 towards...

Re: river wading for smallmouth

Most people don't believe me, but the Palouse river at the west end of the town of Colfax has some decent smallies. I used to fish there after work. You really don't need to wade as the river is only about 50 feet across. Might be a good area for fly fishing, I've never tried but the water is usuall...

Re: New to bass fishing please help?

Thanks for the advice guys. What I've found to work best for me so far has been a skinny worm, like a zoom finesse on a 1/32 jighead made for whacky style fishing. Will def try the shaky head method this week. When using a jighead with the tubes do you make it weedless? I've found the best color fo...

Re: New to bass fishing please help?

Great advice eightballsaul. Getting out and trying new rigs and techniques is the best and most enjoyable way to learn, in my humble opinion. The k.i.s.s. (keep it simple stupid) method is by far the best for beginners. Here's another easy to use rig. Get some 4" tube jigs and lead head jigs (not pa...

Re: Size of bass question

If you fish the Snake river, there are no restrictions(size or quantity) on bass or cats. I would think that the WDFW would do this on all bodies of water that are overrun with "unwanted" species of fish. I also think that groups like B.A.S.S have done too good of a job with the idea of catch and re...

Re: Snake river walleye (how far?)

I have fished lake Bryan(below Lower Granite dam) and Granite lake(above Lower Granite dam) for almost 40 years now and have not seen or heard of any walleyes being caught. I know what you mean about the gas bill. I live about half way between Pullman and Spokane and I have to drive about an hour to...

Re: Sprague Lake

I agree with you YellowBear on all your points. It would be better to put them into managed trout lakes. I do not understand the WDFW thinking on Sprague. They don't seem to be putting a lot of thought or effort into the supposed rehab of the lake. Maybe if we put a lot of pressure on them to better...

Re: bass depth.

I agree with the others, the bass are following their food. If you can find what they are eating you will find them. Depending on if you are fishing for SMB or LMB and the time of year will determine what they are eating. SMB love crayfish so using cray imitators (I prefer tube jigs) along the botto...

Re: Sprague Lake

There have been several groups opposed to the stocking hatchery fish in the rivers around for a while now. They believe that the hatchery fish are inferior to the wild ones and if they spawn together it will make the wild fish weaker, more prone to disease or genetic abnormalities. There is some sci...

Re: Sprague Lake

I am glad they didn't rehab Badger, although Sprague could certainly use help. For some reason I always hold out hope that Sprague will turn back into a good warm water fishery. I want to try Sprague again this year but I sold my bass boat. Now I've got a 24' pontoon and I need 3' of water to float ...

Re: A Note on Squawfish

I have fished the Snake River all my life and squaws are hated here. Right, wrong, or indifferent. When cat fishing you catch a squaw 8 out of 10 cast, its hard to appreciate them for anything but cut bait. The bounty, as far as I can tell, has not really helped knock down their numbers. If they wer...

I know the bridge you are talking about and also the bridge the separates benawa from the ST. Joe used to be hot, but I've been told that the pike have moved in and destroyed the crappie population.

Re: Why is it that little job turns into??????

I think its in the owners manual, expect each project on your boat to take longer and cost more than you first thought. The brakes on my trailer were bad so I figured a quick easy fix and I would going out Sunday instead of Saturday. After several hours of work I realized that the problem was not ju...

Re: Pre-Purchase, Advice Welcome

Don't know if I am too late but hears my 2 cents worth. With the engine being changed out the main things I would be concerned with will be dry rot, electronics, and the control cables. Water will get into the cables and rust them solid. Had it happen on a bass boat. My local repair shop told me it ...

Re: Bass fishing SPOKANE

I agree that an "area" is abstract and should be better defined. Where I live any body of water is at least 1 hour away, not counting farm ponds. As for shore fishing, I completely understood you.
