Re: Skykomish Reiter Ponds

Wow river is way up there now. 53K I don't think I've ever seen it this high scenes I've been reading the gauges regularly. Hopefully we will see some good fish making their way into the system once the river starts to drop. I'm getting antsy now  [drool]

Just curious to get some opinions from you guys. So what this recent rain we have been having I've been watching the skykomish River rise higher than I've seen in a long time. So here the question. What CFS at Reiter ponds would you consider blown out or unfishable. I have about an hour drive out th...

When to switch species

Just curious, when do you all switch over from coho/chum and start fishing for winter steelhead? I'm not looking for specifics but it would be helpful if someone could let me know typically when to switch over (ie November, mid-November) I know last year I was CNR chums and stumbled upon winter stee...

Then again last year was a pink year and everyone and their mom fishes pinks. As for throwing dick nites, it...

Re: Best spinning reel for steelhead $50-$100 range?

I have a president and I love it. Awesome reel. Good for all types of fishin, twitchin jigs, float fishin, drift fishin, throwing spoons and spinners. I've landed countless humpies with it and a coue chum last season and it preforms really nicely.

Re: New toy for cohos

I ended up buying a 9'6" medium x11. Fished it for the first time today (Saturday) and was very pleased with it. It was very light and had good sensitivity and feel. I float fished, drifted a some corkies and bead for a while and tossed spoon and spinner. Really like how it handled all those tequniq...

Re: New toy for cohos

Wow thanks for all the info and help guys. After reading what you all have to say I can tell you the convergence is out of the picture and berkley air has taken it's place. I noticed one of you suggested fenwick. I have a 7' fenwick which I use for pinks that I love. What fenwick rods would you recc...

New toy for cohos

Hey guys I'm looking to get a new rod before coho really start showing up in the sky. I've done some research and talked to a few people and it's between okuma sst, shimano convergence and lamiglas x11. I'm planning on getting one of those in 10'-10'6" with medium light action and I'll be pairing it...

Advise needed please

Can someone please lend a helping hand and give me some advise. I've been fishing on the sky and haven't gotten a fish all summer. I have been watching others and asking for advise down on the river but still nothing. The worst part is people around me are catching fish. Not many but some are. I rea...

Skykomish River: Big Eddy/High Bridge

Thinking about heading over to big eddy this weekend. Just curious if anyone is having any luck there or seen steel pulled out of there?? Also I'm thinking of throwing beads under float and try some nightmare jigs I tied up during the off season. Any other lure suggestions would be more than apprici...

Re: Skykomish Chinook

What kind of water do these fish like?? Frog water, quicker moving seams???

Anymore info would be really helpful in getting myself my first chinook.

Does anyone drift fish or float fish? If so what do you use?? Eggs, shrimp, jigs (colors please), worms, beads.

Thanks for the info ahead of time.

Skykomish Chinook

This will be my first time fishing chinook. Just wondering if you guys had some tips. Bait, any specific colors, lures, areas of water they like ect. I'm pretty clueless when I come to fishing for different species beside pinks. This was my first year typing for other species. Had a good time c'n'r ...

Live bait replacements

I've never been a huge fan of live or real baits (ie eggs, shimp ect) and sense I've been reading about steelhead a lot I've learned that eggs and shimp are some go to baits for some of you guys. I'm usually a huge jig guy but sometimes those don't always work. I recently picked up some ez-eggs to t...

Re: New to Steelhead and looking for guidance.

i am kinda in the same situation. Ive fished pinks every season sense i was 8 years old (now 24) and this is my first season fishing for anything else besides pinks. My best advice would be to get out there and get your line wet. You cant catch fish if your lines not in the water. And also read and ...
