Re: Which mapping system for roosevelt??

Roosevelt level data is updated several times daily as you can see here . Move your curser over the blue text for detail. Times and level recorded for today since midnight to 6am: Midnight - 1268.4' 0100 - 1268.4' 0200 - 1268.3' 0300 - 1268.2' 0400 - 1268.3' 0500 - 1268.5' 0600 - 1268.5' Just visite...

Re: Which mapping system for roosevelt??

You misunderstand what Im saying Phil. I agree with everything you say. The problem is Navionics, and now Garmin, is drawing contours based on data from ignorant users. People record the depth info as they fish, then turn that data in - without ever correcting for the current water level - which wi...

Re: Which mapping system for roosevelt??

Specific to Roosevelt, why would anyone adjust their sonar for changes in water levels when the charts, paper or electronic, are ALL referenced to 1290' above sea level? If "average Joe fisherman" doesn't know he's fishing on a reservoir where the levels change, well, maybe he shouldn't be. Have nev...

Re: Merc 4hp 4 stroke

Your engine is fully compatible for ethanol fuel up to 10%, and JHMO, that is not a contributing factor to your issues. It's my opinion your problem is the new self-venting tank. I'd borrow a different, known good tank and run off it to isolate to the engine or fuel supply.

Re: Which mapping system for roosevelt??

Warning that reservoir levels are subject to change and that displayed data is based on full pool elevation of 1290'. Roosevelt can, and usually does, drop 55' - 60' every year. I've launched at 1230' once or twice in the past 10yrs. User interpretation of displayed data is required, just like a pri...

Some forums/sites have a time out set for login after a set time of inactivity. Don't know if that's the case here or not.

One more note, as hewesfisher was hinting above earlier, just because the part was replaced doesnt mean its good. Some of my biggest blunders in diagnostics have come from bad parts!

Re: Anyone messed up by the GPS/Y2K rollover issue?

No impact for me until 2028 and then requires use of external GPS (which I prefer anyway). I find MFDs to be like phones and computers, they're outdated 6mos after purchase. My MFD, purchased in 2014, is already outdated (Axiom replaced the a-series) so will surely be upgraded long before 2028. [wink]

Re: Merc 4hp 4 stroke

Will echo remarks above though I doubt it's warm enough to cause fuel boiling. The most likely issue is tank not venting correctly and the very first thing I'd check. The fuel pump on this engine is a simple diaphragm pump that needs liquid fuel to work, that's why when the problem exhibits and you ...

Re: Bank fishing?

Guess it's the fact I have a 3 1/2 yr old granddaughter (and will greet #2 first week of June) and thinking what would hold her interest combined with Pomdale's question that I suggested trying for panfish. Dad or Granpda might be happy pitching a crankbait or jig and worm trying to catch a walleye ...

Re: Bank fishing?

Completely forgot about Moses Lake. [blush] Even so, not many walleye bank angling opportunities for a 3yr old. While it's possible to catch a walleye still fishing from shore, it would much easier, and likely far more success, to target panfish from shore. Kids won't care what's on the line, just t...

Still shows me logged in after attempt. I always "mark forums read" before logging out (that works) but my username remains after logout and I can open a new post or respond to an existing one afterward (posted reply to this after logging out twice).

Re: Bank fishing?

Banks and Roosevelt are the only places in WA where you might have a reliable chance of catching a walleye from the bank but that's with crankbaits or jig and a worm. Liberty Lake supposedly has some (elusive) but bank access may be a challenge.

Re: Who Wants To Test My Imported LiFePO4 Batteries....

Might want to confirm those batteries are actually Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) instead of Lithium Ion (LiCoO2) as labeled. The chemistry is different between the two and, from my research, it appears KS Energy sells both but labels them accordingly. Good read - https://batteryuniversity.com/lea...
