Re: Panfish Jig Fishing

Depends on what the fish want. I continuously change presentations and lure types until I find what they're looking for. Once I find fish, i fish with whatever presentation, then switch to vertical jigging with a hair jig. However, unless you're fishing deep or have a smaller boat (such as a float t...

MacCabe Pond Regs?

I was just perusing the latest regulations for MacCabe pond and it only said "no motors allowed." In the past it has specifically stated that fishing from any flotation device is prohibited. Does "no motors allowed" mean I can launch a float tube and fish? There wouldnt be any kind of electric or co...

Re: Small Streams and Creeks

Are small streams a good place to practice skills? I've only used dries so far and love it, the fish don't seem to care (or can't care) what fly I use but would small streams be good places to, for instance, practice nymphing techniques?

Small Streams and Creeks

I'm starting to get into the close quarters, combat fishing which is small streams and creeks. So far, I feel that I've been doing pretty well, but curious about how others approach small streams; what kinds of leaders and rods do you use, fly selection, types of water, etc. By small, I mean streams...

Re: Hyas Lake

Is it a good trail? And would you suggest going up and fishing the Rampart Lakes over Rachel Lake?

Re: Hyas Lake

Would you say it's a long hike? I watched the video and you said it was almost 11.5 miles round trip to Rampart Lakes. So hike to Rachel Lake is about 10 miles or a little over 10 miles?

Re: Hyas Lake

Are there any other lakes in the area that would have less people without a very long hike? Two to three mile hike would be perfect. Or are there going to be a lot of people regardless because of the area?

Hyas Lake

I've been searching for a hike to lake with decent fishing. I found Hyas Lake and have been doing some research to no avail. Has anyone fished there? If so, what kinds of trout are up there and how many people are around? Any piece of information is more than welcome as well as other suggestions for...

Myron Lake

Over the course of the last few months, I've scrolled through every post of Myron and have seen trout, bass, crappie, and perch. I'm a warm-water angler and I love to catch bass and crappie. Yesterday, I decided to go out and see if I could catch anything at Myron. Used tubes and grubs in all sorts ...

Re: i-82 ponds

Looking to hit Myron in a few days for crappie, perch, and bass. Any suggestions on what to use, where to fish, what to look for? Never tried out Myron, but I've seen pictures of some very nice fish from there.
