Re: ScuttleButt fishing contest - covid safe???

Chirp chirp... I would say not too big of deal to keep distance or wear a mask, especially since you would be out in the air and wind. It all comes down to viral load, exposure amounts and time, so if you are breathing down someones neck you could transmit easily. Being outside greatly reduces any e...

Re: Salmon Steelhead Rod/reel Under $150

I cannot be much help with reels (most of mine are either hand me downs or an Abu Garcia that I would not recommend), but keep an eye on Ebay, Craigslist or Offerup, you might be able to get a nice used one reasonably priced.

Re: Questions about catching baitfish in Puget Sound

Did the little Chinook eat bait fish you had already hooked (or were hooks too big for the bait fish)? I was able to catch a few with the Gamakatsu rig once I saw them swimming by while shrimping, just slowly jigging. I used the #4 size.

Re: Salmon Steelhead Rod/reel Under $150

I like my Okuma SST Salmon rod. I use it for most everything, just swap reels for various types of fishing. If I recall it was reasonably priced, then just choose your reel of choice.

Re: Crabbing 2020

If you find them they should be good size is what I have found so far. I had decent success on the West side of Camano, north of the park, one approaching 8", the others all 7+ (mix of in close, 20-30' and out deeper, 70' with small guys/females in between). We did have to sort through quite a few u...

Re: Winthrop area lake fishing with an 8 YO

You could try Pearrygin lake, lots of shore access along the park side, and you can hike around. There is a little resort there that may rent boats as well. I had success last year with a dick night and my buddies did better drifting along with Wholly Buggers. There is also Big twin lake (selective ...

Re: Rainbow Lake Okanogan County

No real info for you, but growing up in Tonasket I had never heard of Rainbow lake, so I would say small and not too deep and possibly marginal fishing (maybe Upland Sandpiper has better info, since he seems to be in that area kayak fishing). Some of the lakes in that area are also very alkaline (Bl...

Re: Boat-in Beaches Everett/Island County Area

Kayak point would be another location, you could even launch and crab right there. The launch isn't much just a little driveway into the water. I think you can walk around a bit on Hat Island, not sure if there is a public beach there though.

Re: Banks Lake In early to mid September

You should have a better chance of good weather in September. Temps have typically dropped into the 70-80 range, so much more reasonable than the 90-100 in August and rain should be scarce. Probably wont be able to have campfires yet, but that also means no rain! I think you made a wise move, especi...

Return of theh Blob?

Say it ain't so, hopefully some good storms can come through and disrupt this warm surface water. Seems like the salmon were just starting to recover! https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/environment/new-marine-heat-wave-resembles-killer-blob-that-devastated-sea-life-on-west-coast-noaa-says/ #-o

Here is the quick excerpt from the regulations, note the section of closed waters. Different rules for North fork and for main stem, so check rules for your exact location. Re: Propeller advice

Prop shop in Mukilteo hooked us up, great people and very knowledgeable. Went with the 4 blade, and they thought that would help performance with my boat. Now just have to get some time for a water (fishing) test. Also they were cheaper than Amazon!

Re: Propeller advice

Heading to the Prop shop in Mukilteo, also found a thread on Glasply.org (nice recommendation 18ftTrophy) where a guy with the same boat was asking same thing so got some good tips on a 4 blade replacement. Might see if they can just repair this one to keep as a spare, depending on how I like the 4 ...

Re: Propeller advice

Sideburns, Thanks for chiming in with some sound advice. Guess I should stick with as similar as I can for now until I can get some on water WOT testing. I did like one four blade prop that stated better turning (hole shot) and better stern lift, which would be good in my case since I am often pulli...

Re: Propeller advice

Thanks for the tips, I am usually pulling a dingy along so I do not have much WOT running time to know. Novice boater too so no idea what the ideal rpm's would even be! Typically I can only go about 13-14 mph to keep the dingy from freaking out at about 2400 rpm's. At least we did not end up like th...

Propeller advice

Quick question about correct propellers as I will be needing a new one after an unnamed (wasn't me) person ran into some rock in the San Juan's last weekend. Luckily it was just bent a little and did not derail the boat camping trip, and we turned just fast enough to avoid running aground, but not f...

See attached link, also look up the old thread "public fishing rights in every state". http://courts.mrsc.org/mc/courts/zwashr ... rt0662.htm

We had this discussion after a homeowner on the Samish threatened to pull a gun on me!

Yes in Kenmore, there used to be a sign telling you to not eat those fish though due to contamination. Not sure if that is still in effect but might want to C&R, or check for details.
