Re: How to find salmon in the sound

The Bubble is an interesting fishery. With the infestation of lion's mane jelly fish I wouldn't worry about identifying fish on the meter so much. The jellyfish look just like a chinook on most fish finders. When I am fishing the Bubble I run the gear anywhere between 40-60' and fish almost anywhere...

Re: Puget Sound Conditions Forecasting

Maybe fish out of the Point Defiance launch. Fish Clay Banks to the Slag Pile. 2 minutes from the ramp and productive. That said always error on the cautious side.

Re: How to find salmon in the sound

A very open-ended request. We would all love to help but need more info. What kind of fishfinder, boat and gear do you have? I assume you are fishing MA 10 for coho. You can get the resident coho mooching but they are primarily downrigger show. Are you looking for help setting up your fishfinder or ...

Re: Lake Crescent vs Lake Sutherland

Sutherland would be my choice for fry-pan fish. The kokanee are willing biters and downriggers are not required.

Salt or Freshwater shore fishing will be kind of tough. Not a lot of options in the area.

Point No Point Public Launch?

A great resource if you have been wondering about the status of the new launch at PNP. https://pointnopointramp.com/ Some of my first memories of salt water fishing were riding the rails as our rental skiff rumbled down the tracks at PNP Resort. Our family proudly owned a 10 hp Johnson outboard that...

Re: too many squid

Looks good Toni. To share a bit more squid info: Toni as you know; although back in the PNW now, due to a work transfer I spent 25 years in Southern California. While there I was solidly ingrained in the local fisheries. Inshore, offshore, lobsters, striped bass in the reservoirs and chasing trout w...

Re: What to do ... with Chum Salmon

Thank you and agreed. Typically I smoke it until it is oily shoe leather and finish with smoker at 225° for an hour per USDA/4H reccomendations.

Bring on the chums, we're out of "Chum Dog Treats" and need a new batch.

Re: What to do ... with Chum Salmon

Smoked chum treats for the dogs. Cube or strip the chum, smoke unbrined and vacuum bag in weekly portions. The dogs love them and they are good for them.

The rain yesterday will flush out the humpies and get the coho moving.
