Re: Official Pink Season

If there are more coho than pinks we are in great shape because it has been a pink bloodbath out there. Schools everywhere in 8/9/10 right now!

Re: 8&9 blackmouth close to Guideline

The saddest thing to me is how dismally low our expectations have become if "Almost a-fish-a boat" is considered 'killing' them. I don't really know what you consider to be good chinook fishing. But if you're over a fish a boat in the central sound you're doing excellent. There are TONS of people w...

Re: 8&9 blackmouth close to Guideline

Not many fish being caught? Did you not see the creel reports near the opener? The fleet killed em. Almost a-fish-a boat in Everett and better than a fish a boat in other marinas. That's better than summer #'s Anyone who fished 9 around the opener would know the closure was coming. I am honestly sur...

Re: Lingcod Tackle Box

Just run leadheads and curly tail grubs in the 7" or 9" Size. Brown/gold flake is the best color. You can but those grubs for like .50$ a pop, just grab a whole bunch of them and some lead heads. I use primarily 6 Oz'ers but I carry 4's, 6's, 8's and 10's in my box. We run 8's and 10's if we're fish...

Re: Skykomish High Bridge to Sultan? Safe in a pontoon?

The state frequently surveys this reach in single man pontoons.

The days of live herring? Those days are now my friend..... we still frequently jig and fish fresh herring in the sound!

They don't work for lings though, everyone keep using sand dabs..... [-X =;

Likewise. I didn't buy one as I couldn't even get away. Haven't been in 9 since the opener. Fail.

Re: Fish with clipped tails

The tail cut is to identify that the fish has been previously sampled. Biologists both at the hatchery as well as in the field collect biological samples from carcasses during spawning ground assessment surveys. They take scales, DNA, forklength, and otolith, generally (dependent upon species). They...

Re: Leaders with egg loop

One HUGE advantage to tying your own egg loops is the ability to modify the knot. I usually do 6 or so loops for the top portion, but then I add a bunch of extra loops onto the hook shank before closing off the knot, the usual tying guides recommend 4-8 loops to finish the knot, but I tie about 14-2...

Re: DogFish Shark A hidden Gem ...Whats your take?

I think that the state should have a commercial fishery for dogfish. The prized delicacy of Shark fins oversea's, brings in a lot of money globally. Allowing fishermen to harvest these fish would help with over population; allowing more bait fish and then in return, larger fish to re populate the a...

Yes, winter.

Winter blackmouth is the only time areas 8-1 and 8-2 are open for Chinook salmon retention.

I know this is in the lakes section, but you can fish from the bank at Point No Point and Chinook salmon this time of year. That would be my suggestion.

Re: Baker Lake boat size question

I will speak from personal experience. Last year I took my 20' trophy 2002 walkaround up there with no issues. I saw boats much larger than ours. There was a Seasport that was easily a 26 footer up there as well. It all comes down to what you're comfortable with and what you are TOWING with. That's ...
