Re: North Jetty & Long Beach - 1st Trip out

Boy did I pick a bad time to visit the Washington coast. Bought a 3-day license and a Discover Pass in hopes of hitting Long Beach and Cape Disappointment north jetty for some saltwater fishing this coming week, but looks like it's gonna wind, waves, rain and perhaps a storm or two... ugh... Hope th...

Re: Razor Clam Openings

Dagnabbit. Had a trip planned for Long Beach (Groupon motel deal) for the weekend, only to see the clam dig news this afternoon. Went to Cabela's and picked up a 3-day pass, now only to learn that the digging's only good till noon. We had planned to arrive Sunday after noon. I was originally only go...

Re: Combo License Upgrade - Ever done it?

Since the licenses expire come March, I'll probably just pickup a combo 2-day pass. It'll be cheaper. Then I'll just buy a combo license for 2012.

Re: North Jetty & Long Beach - 1st Trip out

Nate- Thanks for the tips. I'm still getting all my gear together. Finally got the rods, reels and some bank sinkers on sale. Still have to get some braid, heavy mono, heavy swivels and hooks. From what I've read, I'm thinking 5/0 octopus circle hooks. 3/0 to 4/0 EWG hooks for carolina/texas rigging.

North Jetty & Long Beach - 1st Trip out

Wife and I caught a deal on a motel out on Long Beach. Was hoping to fish saltwater for the first time. Gonna make some crab snares and visited Cabela's today to pickup some stuff for jetty fishing. Still gotta pickup some surf rods and terminal tackle. It's gonna be a whole new experience. Any tips...

Combo License Upgrade - Ever done it?

I'll e-mail WDFW to see what they say, but I was wondering if anyone's ever upgraded their license to a combo license mid-year. I purchased a freshwater license, but am planning a trip to the coast. Rather than purchasing a separate shellfish license and a saltwater license, I was wondering if they ...

Re: Ice Reports 2011-2012

I was actually wondering just how far south anglers go on the ice. It seems the majority head out about 20-50 yards from the boat ramp, but I have seen footprints and some sled trails leading southward. Has anyone had any luck catching bass through the ice on Silver?? On second thought, if you can ...

Re: Ice Reports 2011-2012

@romanfishing - Fishtrap's been closed since 9/30. @kfedka & fishtank - thanks for reporting on Silver. @fishtank - Silver's usually one of the last to freeze, though it keeps the ice on for a pretty long time. I've never wandered too far south on Silver when it's frozen (not trusting the ice), but ...

Dungeness - Columbia River - Year Round?

I've never been crabbing, but was checking out the regs and was astounded to see that crabbing is open year-round in the Columbia River area. Not only that, but the limits are double at 12 and the sizes are smaller at 5 3/4". Are the crabs really that abundant there? Do crabs really hang out there a...

RE:Catch some fish while I'm gone!

You should take advantage of some of the fishing available on base; Some of the best Japanese sea bass (suzuki) fishing I was told. Lots of great-tasting fish available too if you're into eating what you catch.

RE:the fresh-water lobsterette - crawfish lakes *UPDATE*

Just picked up four more traps (for a total of 5) and some floats. Excited about catching some crawfish. Concerned about unscrupulous individuals pulling my traps, so I'll drop 'em at/around sunset and pick 'em up crack of dawn. Here's a question for you: You're only allowed 10lbs of native signal c...

RE:WDFW Sprague Lake Management Plan

Interesting read. I suppose we're coming into year 4 of the rehab. If never been more disappointed when I learned they'd killed off all the walleye. What a waste of great fish. Did they ever open it up to no limit walleye fishing prior to the kill off?

RE:Finally got to take out the new Nu Canoe.

@wolverine - I just started taking a look at those Hobie Mirage kayaks w/ the pedal-system. They look sweet, but really pricey. The fishing must be awesome though; I've taken a look at some YouTube videos and the ability to troll while peddling and moving w/ free hands - nice. Would seriously make t...
