Re: Mosquito repellent

We started using repel lemon eucalyptus when the kiddo was born cause the doc recommended we avoid using deet on her til she was older. Honestly it seems to work about as well as any other bug repellent I've used. With all of them it's more about reapplying before it wears off so even that Avon bath...

Re: That's so thrifty! (Budget-friendly fishing tips compilation)

Found a new site with really good prices on rods and free shipping if you don't mind waiting 20 days or so lol

http://www.fish-united.com/

I just picked up a noodle rod and a 4 ft ultra light ice rod from there for 24 bucks

Re: Eagle Claw Featherlight Kokanee/Casting rods are here!

I've used mine a lot but not on jokes. The 8ft handles chums well and is a blast. Also put in the salt flounder fishing, took out for channels and bullhead cats, and I use it dragging pop gear for trout. I need to pick up another because these are really versatile rods that can handle my kind of abu...

2lb mono

so i finally ran outta the spool of maxima perfection 2lb i bought a couple years ago. figured it'd fairly easy to find either another spool of it or a similar clear mono in a 1/4 or 1lb spool. oh boy was i wrong, seems like every brand of light line i trust doesn't do bigger than a 300yd spool thes...

Re: Good Lake with Playground Nearby in Western WA?

In snohomish county, Martha lake (am) has a playground it's not line of sight though but it's close to the dock. Martha (wb) has a park with a playground and fishing dock. Silver lake in Everett has a toy and dock. Tye in monroe has a nice park. Also blackmans has a toy in line of sight of the dock....

Re: 2018 salmon seasons for Puget Sound are out

i'll wait til it's closer to game time on the area i fish to really judge how the seasons are. the dept likes to manage with emergency openers and closings so much that it's hard to really see the seasons from this early on imo

Re: No triploids? & very few "jumbo's"?

Not sure I believe all of that tbh. First off it seems they cut off one of the most popular products they produce, which sorta leads me to think they deliberately chose trips to cut in hopes of generating support for a license increase. 2nd we sportsman already carry the burden of funding the dept. ...

I wouldn't use my real name as a user name anywhere online tbh. I'm not trying to hide in anonymity or anything, just don't wanna make it easier than it already is to get my info stolen.

i'm kinda dissapointed the chumming rule was nixed, i'd like to chum when i'm chasing catfish and perch. cottage cheese and bran is amazing for it :-"

This is the time of year I used to target big trout over on the Lakewood side of the lake. But I haven't had the chance to do that in a couple seasons since I moved North of seattle.

Re: rules proposal: no limit on pan fish

I'm good on the limits being taken off and I don't see it really impacting populations in very many lakes. Getting past the native/non native arguments, the truth is the vast majority of fishing hours on lakes in this state are spent pursuing trout or kokaneee. The next largest user group is bass fi...

Re: Unweighted spoons

i used to toss dick nites off les davis pier as a kid. i'd use a 1/2 or 1 oz banana weight with the dick nite tied on about 6 to 8 ft leader. i'd do pretty good when the silvers where targeting smaller baitfish. I've never used a coho killer or full size spoon though, biggest i used was a #1 dick ni...

Re: Reel Cleaning Service. Anyone Here Use Them?

I rotate my reels through the shop every other year, and clean and lube my self the when a real isn't going in. I'd agree with AJ's Dad that my clean and lube jobs don't seem to last as long but it'd cost too much having all my reels serviced yearly (I'm may be a gear junkie :-$ ). I always feel I'm...

definitely too easy of a sentence. how many crab did he illegally harvest in those pots as he stole them? he should've lost the vessel he used to commit the thefts on top of a loss of his commercial license.

Re: Poacher's penalty, it's a start

that's too easy. if the court really wanted to take a stand on poaching, the judge should've imposed the sentence in one stay and make that & the fine the max allowable under state law. Plus a revocation of his hunting privledges for the 5 years. these creative sentencing structures take the bite ou...

Re: The "Blob" is dead!

i doubt we'd see much of boast in salmon runs from the blob being dead in the next season or two. it's gonna take a couple good spawning classes to bump those run numbers significantly. it is good news for the future that the blob is dead though

Re: Rod question

Just a side note on a float rod, the length depends more on the water you're fishing than anything else. I float fish with as short as a 7'6" rod on a couple small pieces water, but a 9ft or 9'6" is probly the the better all around option. I fish 10ft most of the time as I'm comfortable with that ro...
