Re: Anchor weight

Not to hijack the thread, but I will anyway. Suggestions on the type of anchor for the lower Snohomish? I have a slip ring that holds me fine on sandy bottoms in a moderate tide, but haven't tried it in the river. Boat is 21 foot fiberglass.

Re: Getting a new boat

If you're considering a used boat and you have the money and space you might look to buy in 2 or 3 months than 6. A lot of folks try to sell so they don't have to store their boat over the winter, though that might not hold true for a small aluminum. I used to have a 14 foot Lund and it was a light,...

Re: Pinks from shore - Seattle area

If you are from Sammamish, don't overlook the points north--Picnic Point in Edmonds, for example. It can often take less time to get there than any of the Seattle spots.

San Juans Help

I'm spending the day on James Island, near Decatur and Blakely. We plan to crab and fish for pinks and/or bottom dwellers--whatever does not require trolling (Kids want more action they say). I've never fished the area and most of the reports are trolling for chinook--any suggestions? I don't want t...

Re: Need advise on boating near the Tri-Cities

I went to the tri cities for the first time last year. We were just playing, not fishing. Generally found it a big calm lake (its an impound of McNary dam). I never went upstream far enough to get free flowing water. However when the wind came up it was another matter. I have a 21 foot sea ray and w...

Re: Unexpensive Boat for Saltwater Fishing recommendations

I've seen a lot of guys fishing the sound in kayaks (close to shore) though they aren't as cheap as the raft you posted. Not sure what your budget or storage requirements are, but a small aluminum boat could easily be towed with a car, not a truck.

Your right. Don't know why I was thinking 4700. Should verify my aging memory before I type.

Re: anybody seeing pinks yet?

With pinks so plentiful (that is, plenty to go around) it would be great to see everyone post their reports on the site.

Re: anybody seeing pinks yet?

All the reports I've seen have been off the beach. Dumb question, but is there any reason they wouldn't be catchable by boat as well? Is it just more beach goers report their catches on social media?

Re: Swimstep/Swim Platform

I looked into a swim platform for a Bluewater Sportsman I used to have. I think it was from Swim Platforms, Inc. They wanted $1500.00 and that seemed to be the going rate--too much for me. Good luck though!

Re: Boat Launch Option.

Mid-sound is a pretty big area and has two sides to it. I'm in Bellevue and usually launch out of Everett or Edmonds (sling launch). There's also launches at shilshole and Mukilteo. Any would be fine for your boat. Mukilteo can get dicey when the waters rough I've heard, but doubt you'd be trying th...

Re: rigged hoochie storage

For salmon sized I use the 5x7 (ish) dense foam sheets. The squid doesn't have to wrap around it. Terribly expensive from the store but I'm sure there's a homemade option.

Re: Forum Guidelines and Expectations

Hi all, I'd like to know the etiquette when someone asks for a guide recommendation and there doesn't appear to be a sponsor who would provide the requested service. Should we ignore the question? pm them? This came up over a Westport charter (where I was very nicely reminded of the rule, thanks Nat...

Have you thought of the "poor man's down rigger? Just a ball on a line tied off at the desired depth. I just got a pontoon boat and was going to give it a try. There's a couple you tube videos

Re: Best Westport Salmon Guide?

Mark Coleman's Allrivers and Saltwater Charters. Mark's background is as a river guide. His boats are charters, but max of 6 people. Disclaimer: I've been on the rivers with him and went on a tuna run, but have no personal experience with saltwater salmon.
