WTT or WTB Steelhead float rod

Just ordered my Stradic spinning reel and am looking for a float rod to put it on. Looking for something like a 9.5 or better, rated at 6-10, medium/fast. Limited funds so have to stick with a good quality rod rather than the best quality for now. Interested in either a sale, or maybe I have somethi...

Re: Thinking about heading to Westport

We fish for surf perch a lot. I would have to say that our number one " go to " bait is sand shrimp. We dig two full bait containers in about 30 min. right on the beach. We overcome the tendency for them to "fling" off by wrapping them with elastic thread. ( we pre tie our hooks with a length of ela...

Re: Area 9 Summer Fishery

Tom, first, thank you for bringing this to the forum and using this media to solicit sports fishermen. =D> I have fished MA11 and 13 for many, many years. And I have seen first hand the decrease in not only migratory fish, but in the resident black mouth fishery in these areas. I have heard about th...

Re: Skook Lately?

Been fishing there several times before this big water. Last time was last Thursday. There was only one fish "allegedly" caught. That was told to us second hand so no confirmation. This flooding might drive the nets off the rivers and certainly will allow some fish up. The locals, for the most part,...

Re: spin cast reel suggestions ?

After looking over all the great information and suggestions from everybody I went down and put my hands on a lot of reels and scoured the internet for reviews. I ended up with a Simano stradic FJ. There might be far better reels and there are certainly more expensive reels. But I got a heck of a go...

Re: spin cast reel suggestions ?

Thanks guys. This is exactly why I love this board. Great info straight! Ok, so I'm leaning toward the Pfluger president. Since I will be using this as my primary float reel for salmon/steel, what model would you recommend? I use 40lb power pro on my float rod. Also, what do you guys think...

Two Shimano TDR rods. Had them in the boat but never used them. Good condition. $16 per or $30 for both.

Re: River rookie (sort of)

You picked an interesting time of year. A lot of the rivers are getting ready to close within the next few weeks. May be able to find some trout. Springers are around the corner and then things pick up again in the summer. I know it's a ways away, but set yourself a reminder to reach out to me in S...

River rookie (sort of)

Hello. New to this board and already posted a intro in the announcement thread. Been fishing in WA since 1975 on and off(Military retired) as I was stationed here over the years. Since retiring I've been fishing almost exclusively salt. This fall I have started getting back into river fishing and re...

Looking to fish.

Been fishing salt for a good while. I'm getting back into river/fresh water fishing and would like to get together for some fishing. Either bank or boat. I'm retired so I am pretty much available anytime weekday or weekend (unless the Hawks are playing!). I will help with shuttle, gas and I have my ...
