It's going to be a windy one. Wind really seems to whip up on that lake. I am sitting this weekend out :)

Re: Lake Goodwin Boat Launch closing for the summer of 2018

Surprises me that they decided to close it during the summer months. Place is nuts during the summer - I always shoot for getting off the lake by 10 just so it doesn't take an hour just to get my Hobie out of the water. Yea the fall fishery there is probably my favorite trout fishery around, should ...

Lake Goodwin Boat Launch closing for the summer of 2018

For those that fish Goodwin, the boat launch at Wenberg will be closed June 1st - September 30th for repairs to the launch/dock. While a bummer, the fishing really dies off for trout (unless you want to bottom fish bait) from about the 4th of July through September anyway. Could make for some good f...

Re: WDFW Freshwater Policy Proposals

Yes there would need to be a still fishing with bait distinction. I fish a lake where chumming is allowed and I see guys all of the time "culling" keeping the larger fish until they reach their limit and tossing back the smaller fish. I always see a few floating after these guys leave. To make that ...

Anglers must release all salmon except hatchery coho on Snohomish, Skykomish, Snoqualmie and Wallace

I am sure most have seen this, but everything is now closed to the retention of native coho. October 27, 2017 Anglers must release all salmon except hatchery coho on Snohomish, Skykomish, Snoqualmie and Wallace Rivers Action: Release all salmon except for hatchery coho (marked with a clipped adipose...

Re: Snohomish/ Skykomish Coho

I haven't fished it in a month, but it did just get closed to retention of wild coho. Can only keep hatchery fish, and typically about 90% of the run is wild. Good luck :)

Re: Strangest by Catch pictures!

Uuuggg! You guys with the hook-in-hand pics are giving me the willies! Ouch to both of you! Just think of those pics of the hooks in our hands as a “friendly reminder” of how sharp and dangerous the hooks are…. I have been fishing my entire life and thank goodness this has only happened one time.. ...

Re: Strangest by Catch pictures!

A week earlier I caught a 5x5 chunk of carpet. This terry cloth wrist band had to have been down there since the 80's being that's about the last time I ever remember seeing these :) No picture, but this spring while fishing in 100 feet of water on Lake Stevens with my downrigger set at 50 feet, I g...

Re: Recommendations for River Fishing in Snohomish County (New Anglers)

Sorry, missed this. I have zero experience on that part of the river. I am going to assume it's a lot like fishing the Cascade. Look for soft spots where the fish will hold. Bends, behind structure, spots that have a little depth with little water movement. That part of the river they shouldn't be m...

Re: No more Pinks, so Coho... River help?

Lower river that is tidally influenced, during the incoming tide fish generally are pushing in and moving. Just about anywhere that stretch can be good. When the water level drops and the water is moving out, the fish can hold and rest in areas described above. Lots of access along Lowell road and d...

I saw this coming. Quality fish this year, but definitely not a ton of them. Here's to hoping that the Coho run comes in as estimated.

Re: Recommendations for River Fishing in Snohomish County (New Anglers)

There are Coho in the Sky now, just not a lot yet. For the lower river you could put in at either the new launch in Snohomish across from stocker fields, or at the old launch at cady park. Take out could be at Rotary park in Everett or langus. That part of the river is tidal though, so flow changes ...

Re: Recommendations for River Fishing in Snohomish County (New Anglers)

I fish out of a hobie pro angler, but I fish the lower Snohomish. The pinks are up that far, but they are starting to turn. I've heard there are a few Coho starting to trickle up that way, but they really won't start to get thick up there for another week or 2. Lower Snohomish (from the Snohomish la...

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers

Right now i have an 8'6" Ugly stik but it has a trout reel setup on it. Would that be ok for these tight spaces? It's rated 6-12lb test I believe. If that rod would work for this type of fishing I will happily continue to use it and just spend a little more on a quality reel and purchase the rod at...
