Re: Target practice in the mountains/woods?

Thank you very much this is very helpful. I said atleast 150yards because that's the law, not because I was thinking that would stop the bullet, I believe it's because the noise can't be that close to others? Anyways thanks again I go up the Mt. Baker Highway every weekend to go shooting, out at on...

Re: Just moved here

Stop by Yeager's and ask one of the guys around the fishing department. For the north fork the rest of the year you will find some chum and dolly varden. Maybe grab a couple blue fox spinners or some eggs to float!

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

Went out to my Jeep this morning to find out that someone broke into it and stole my fishing backpack I left in there, as well as my new stereo and some other crap. So now I'm down a couple hundred dollars in tackle and gear that was stuffed into my backpack. This was over on Boulevard, which is nea...

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

Check out the chum I got my hands on today! Right in the mouth too. A nice size chrome hen. They were biting today for sure, I had three on in the mouth in about five minutes.

DJ- Have you gone after chum or dolly in the north fork at all? Would it beat the rage fishing at Whatcom creek?

Re: Just moved here

If your looking to get your hands on some salmon this afternoon, head down to Whatcom Creek. The chums are flooding up the river. Be aware of snaggers and crowded fishing, but you certainly can land some nice ones hooked in the mouth. I landed 7 total this morning and only two were snagged. If they ...

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

Sounds like you had a good morning. I landed two that ate the yarn, and two that were fowl hooked. Kept the first one and already have it filleted as well. Its going in the smoker! Crazy amounts of fish running up the creek

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

Okay that makes sense. I'll be there at first light as well, with a bobber, pink jig, and maybe some sand shrimp! Probably wont need waders with the low tide but I will bring those as well. Hopefully get some bright chums for the smoker

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

Has anyone attempted to float from the wall area? Yesterday was a nightmare just trying to fish it with yarn. If you let it float down three feet down river, they start yelling "long liner." I also got hit in the face with a lure from some kid flinging it at the wall from across the river. Basically...

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

The anti-snagging rule says that weight must be attached at least 12 inches above the bait or lure and cannot be attached below it. It mysteriously does not say that weight cannot be attached to the lure or bait itself. It doesn't say that the bait or lure cannot be weighted. If this were true, you...

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

I read that jigs are not allowed due to the anti-snagging regulations, is that true? I would probably just use a yarn and corkie anyways because a bobber would seem to cross a lot of lines floating down stream

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

Yesterday, I met several people that chatted about snagging as if it was an ethical way to fish for salmon. Comments like "It's definitely a keeper if you snag it in front of the gill plate." The problem is people that don't know any better. We even had a gentleman who walked through the water about...

I'm going to the Nooksack tomorrow for the first time since before the rain, what sections of the river did you hit dj2loud?? Even if they are native, still a blast to catch and release!

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

jakefish, I work a couple blocks away as well. Have you had best luck on the creek early in the morning? Or just about any time as long as the fish are coming up the river? I could either fish it at 5 am or maybe over a lunch break, but I'm looking to try as soon as a pod comes up the creek
