I'm crossing my fingers for good fishing at Skookum after this front passes through, but thinking it will take at least a couple days for the river to clear up? I know South Fork isn't usually as bad as the North Fork.

So predicted for Thursday through this weekend is back to back storms, with gusts passing 50 miles per hour. There is also 6-10 inches of rain forecast through that time. I have to add, it was fish directly across from the hatchery at the South Fork, and they were dead fish with clean cut off tail. It has to be some hatchery research or work, as dj2loud said.

dj2loud, They have been mostly right floating around the log bank on the river directly across from the hatchery. Thank you for the info everyone, it just left me wondering why they would be cut up like that.

Fish with clipped tails

Has anyone been seeing various species of dead fish floating around, not gutted or harvested, but with their tails clipped off? Up near the on the South Fork of the Nooksack they are everywhere, and I have seen them on other parts of the river as well. It appears to be salmon and possible trout spec...

Maybe due to the high populations of warm water species? So could be some great smallie/bluegill/perch fishing

I'll be back on the South Fork tomorrow and this weekend, another pod should be coming up the river from the rain we have been having. fingers crossed

At the south fork today, landed a nice red male wild coho. No keepers but the fish are there!
