Lake Roosevelt Invasive species inspection form

I just saw this information in a response from hewesfisher on another forum post, and thought I would put it on it's own thread so others like me that haven't seen it until now can be informed. If this has already been discussed, please forgive me for having not seen it. Thank you hewesfisher for sh...

Re: 2018 Pike Tally

I'll be on the shelf for the next three weekends. Weather sucks this weekend, and the wife and I are heading off on vacation that will keep me out of the fishing action for the next two weekends after that. The Packernut and I plan to begin our pursuit of Pike the last weekend of the month in the Le...

Re: Chapman Lake update

Wow. It sure doesn't sound like a 2 1/2 year project to me, but I guess the lake will have a nice population of fish by the time it becomes usable.

Re: Porcupine Bay, Spokane Arm?

Not sure when you're planning to go out to Ft. Spokane but check this link out before you go if you're planning to go soon. The water levels are dropping out there, and as of today, if it drops another two feet, the launch at Ft. Spokane will be out of commission. http://www.lrf.org/recreation/boat-...

Minnkota remote control issues

Well this time I'm not asking for answer, I'm giving one. If you own a Minnkota with the remote control with LCD screen, you will likely have this issue at some point. Here's the part number for the remote.1866350. When I bought my Lund, used back in October, the main motor only had 13 hours on it. ...

Re: Water Levels

I'll just chime in with another link for this kind of information. I've used this for Lake Roosevelt info. It tells you what the current water level is, and at what level you can still use each launch site. Pretty cool resource.

Re: Best line for trolling walleyes???

Dan,
Wow there's a blast from the past. Good to hear from you. We'll have to hook up and go catch a few. I'm still a die hard pike guy, I'm just planning to spread it around a little more this year. My new Lund is a little more walleye water friendly, so I plan to give em hell a little this year.

Re: Best line for trolling walleyes???

Hewesbob, and Larry, Thanks for the input. I agree the braid can be a pain when you have to give up on a lure and break it off. Before I discovered pike fishing 20 some years ago, I was predominantly a walleye guy, but we did 90% of it with jigs. We used to say the same thing. "If you're not losing ...

Best line for trolling walleyes???

For ever I have said "I don't troll". I prefer to feel the fish when it hits the bait. However, I plan to do much more walleye fishing this year, and trolling is something I'm ready to master in the process. Bottom walkers are a piece of cake, but dragging cranks and such will be new to me. That sai...

Re: Towing a boat over passes

Just my opinion but here goes. First off as you probably already know, your 2500 Ram with a Cummins, will not even know your light weight boat is back there. I have towed previously owned boats without trailer brakes in the snow with no issues. Obviously abruptly jamming on the brakes could cause a ...

Google brings up a few reports about stripers in the Columbia. Most seem to be about the same fish. A 52 pounder. Back in 2013

Re: Ever tried Grim reel?

I'm not sure what you paid for this reel, but back in the day, I would refuse to pay extra money for the higher priced reels. I caught lots of fish on them and they seemed as you said here, nice and tight and smooth. At first. What typically happens to the lower priced reels is that they loosen up a...

Re: Anybody have a Humminbird Helix 5 w/Side Imaging?

Quad, It really is quite simple. On your first try, just pull up the SI only screen while you're in an area of about 20fow not too far from shore. go in with the menu button and you can select how far out to the sides you want it to read. Also through the menu button, select the chart speed tab and ...

Re: Anybody have a Humminbird Helix 5 w/Side Imaging?

I had the Di and SI on my old Skeeter. Now have two Helix 7's on my Lund. GPS, DI and SI at the helm, and GPS and DI at the bow . The best usage I get from the SI was when I am searching for new water to fish. It's great for finding boulders, logs, rock piles and other types of structure that you wo...

Re: Reel Cleaning Service. Anyone Here Use Them?

I have used the local rod and reel repair guy a few times. I have also cleaned and oiled my own on occasion. When I do them they seem to work fine, but it doesn't last as long as when he does them. I must be missing something, but I have followed the youtube videos to the "T". Not sure what he does ...

Re: 2017 Pike tally

Well it looks like I will finish the year at 221 pike. The Packernut and I hit Cda for the last time on sunday. We got one bite all day and landed that one lone fish. Too much work for one fish has me hanging it up for the year. Unless I try them through the ice that is. Hope everyone had a successf...

I like the look of this bait. I went to your website but couldn't find any info on shipping charges. Can you tell me what your shipping charges are like? I tried the wigglefin samples you sent me, using them in a casting application. I was unable to produce any action but I have to admit I lose inte...

Thanks Aaron. Yes the boat was amazing and it's going to give me many years of great fishing. I'll get out after them again but think were going to chase something different this weekend.
