Re: Whatcom creek steelhead !
I was thinking of heading up north to Canada, however I don't have a passport, enhanced drivers liscense or a nexus pass for travel. Obviously a twic card don't work, and from what I've read from a few of the posts the vedder would be the closest-- as far as regs I do believe whatcom creek is open u...

Whatcom creek steelhead !
I know I might be beating a dead horse here with this post, has anyone fished whatcom creek for steelhead even though they aren't planted here anymore? I'm jonesing to sink a line and not have to travel 150+ miles south from Bellingham now that everything is closed...

Re: Wild Fish Conservancy files suit over hatcheries
As Owen Hayes (outdoor GPS) has stated before, the WFC is a bunch of loony's and has too much time on their hands.... 1 question I would ask of anyone who reads this is --- If the state is not planting smolt on the Nooksack river this year ( and they stated they didn't plant any last year 2014 and y...

Re: An interesting find about the nooksack river---
I was just talking to a co-worker about this same issue... He is 61 and still on his hands and knees roofing daily, he was telling me that he used to fish the Nooksack in the early 70's before Bolts decision changed things for the worst... He stated the rivers were chocked full of fish, including on...

Re: An interesting find about the nooksack river---
I would have to agree with all of the replys so far, without an accurate fish count by the natives there will never be a truly accurate count of any species of salmon or trout in the nooksack. The current regulations set back in 74 by bolt is absurd in 2015 times. I can say that haven't been fishing...

An interesting find about the nooksack river---
Evening all, was sitting here tying up some yarn balls tonite, thinking about how many steelhead I was gonna ponder about catching tomorrow, came across an interesting article while looking online about knot tying and I thought I would share the article.... http://westseattleblog.com/2014/12/when-do...

Re: whatcom creek
still a few more weeks of fishing up there, I personally wont go there anymore after hearing the issues folks have had. I wish to find solitude and peace by myself or with a friend, but not arm to arm combat salmon fishing.....

Re: Coho Counts on the nooksack
I am unfortunately in the same predicament with out a boat. Fishing for salmon has been quite fun and yet frustrating as well at times. Im an east coast fisherman ( Maryland, where we fish for BASS on the Potomac river and troll off the coast of north Carolina for tuna..) Not the same here in Washin...

Coho Counts on the nooksack
Hi all, Its been a really bad season this year on the nooksack for coho.... So far this year I've only been able to catch and keep 3.. Im wondering if anyone else has had better luck? I have been all the way up to the hatchery's on both forks with little success even thought I have been seeing many ...

Re: whatcom creek
There is no such thing as common sense on this water... Recently watched a fisherman with 1500 pound Para cord on his reel snag a hefty 20+ pound chum only to loose it under tension, the guy to his immediate right got a 3 ounce pyramid to the head, knocking his hat into the water and gashing him ope...
