Unfortunately there's no discernible difference between appearances of wild and hatchery sturgeon. You could have kept them under the hatchery fish season.

Re: Fishing at Brewster advice needed
get some good intel before you go unless you class this trip as a research trip. I've seen reports saying the fishing is slow because the rains have got a bunch of the fish to run up the Okanogan. I'd try calling one of the guides that fishes it daily for current info. Also if it's anything like my ...

Re: Just How Dumb Is It To Camp During July @ Potholes?
I was down at MarDon's yesterday visiting with vacationing extended family. It was windy on both Sunday and Monday. Yesterday we got to watch a couple of "flying" canopies that weren't staked down good enough. Saw a "palm tree" umbrella get turned inside out. Temp was a balmy 79 degrees and pleasant.

last year for the weekend of the 4th it was 110+. This year it's in the mid-80's and pleasant. Hornets seemed to be killed off last cold winter.

Re: size of motor for trolling
you may be able to enjoy the best of both worlds if you put a trolling plate on the back of the 9.8.
With a smaller motor you might complain the boat doesn't go fast enough at full throttle.

Re: Hatchery Sturgeon open July 1
I wonder what wisdom came up with this idea? A great deal of effort was expended to catch broodstock sturgeon for eggs and milt and hatcheries for rearing the young sturgeon. It was said that the mid-columbia was very poor for young sturgeon so a number of agencies teamed together on this effort. Th...

Re: moses lake walleye
Hi Bill W, We live in Coulee City now and fish Banks often. We have been catching limits thru out the day,( my wife is not an early day type person) we have been doing very well on slow death smiley blade combo with a night crawler. We have been finding our best fishing between 35' and 45' on the o...

Re: moses lake walleye
If you opt on Banks, figure on fishing early in the day. For us it seems to shut off around noon. And for a Wednesday report. Fishing slow. Trolled cranks with minimal luck. Some strikes, one landed. Nearby fisherman said 25 feet and light bites was what he was experiencing. We fished mainly the mil...

Re: Palouse river catfish
the channel is on the right side going in. Amost all the rest is shallow mud flats. The first time we fished there we cruised all over trying to find fish and thumped a couple of what we thought were carp. Turned out they were catfish as the catfish also liked the shallow parts. Ask the people at th...

Re: Palouse river catfish
I like to use a bobber with the bait hanging maybe 3 feet deep. The main bay is fairly shallow.
If you go up the river watch your prop in some of the areas.
