Re: Visual Distress Signal Reuired On Lake Washington and Sammamish?

My flares expired several years and I haven't replaced them. Went through a safety inspection conducted by NPS and they didn't even ask if I had flares. IF you get checked, the "non-marine" flares won't cut the mustard. Notice I said "IF". [wink]

Yup, thats a great reason to spend locally instead of trying to save a buck and order everything on amazon. (guilty)
Not to mention save $$$ too, don't ask me how much I've spent buying props trying to improve certain performance conditions with my boat. #-o

Re: Downrigger and Line/Lure Depth

I chased this rabbit hole once, got all over the temp at depth thing, bought a Fishhawk TD so I could target preferred depth by temperature. I used the TD several times the first year, a couple times the second year, and hasn't been out of my tackle bag since. Have found my sonar tells me everything...

A good prop shop would be able to ID your prop, repair it, and give you solid recommendations for your specific application. [wink]

Re: Looking for tips for buying a used boat

When I bought my Trophy it had a Merc 125 saltwater 2-stroke, and I couldn't get it off the boat fast enough. Just a turd!!!!! Love my Eninrude Etec. 2-strokes are good if you get like a 2000 or later. The newer motors are more fuel efficient and nearly to no smoke. The Etec's start instantly and h...

Re: Broke off piece of lower unit on motor

Good to hear that Chris and I echo Rseas and Sideburns recommendations on primer & paint. Don't know if you have a tach, but to effectively play with props and pitch, you're going to need one.

Re: Broke off piece of lower unit on motor

Pressed in hubs - still? Wow. Don't waste time trying to determine if your hub is spun by running engine in garbage can because you aren't loading the prop . All it will do is make a heck of a mess trying to empty all the water from garbage can. It's entirely possible you may have struck the prop sa...

Re: Broke off piece of lower unit on motor

Replied to your post report but will here to. It can be repaired, but I advise you take it in and have your dealer look at it to protect your warranty. Make sure your dealer provides you with a copy of whatever they tell you. The picture you posted in your report shows you still have a full length s...

Re: Gregor boat

What's worse with folks in "rowboats with an outboard" is from a distance you can't even see them and is something I've experienced far more often than I care to.

Re: Gregor boat

I fish Roosevelt a lot and I've seen people a half mile across the reservoir in 12' boats with 3 "large" adults and about 6" of free board. Don't know which model you're considering but I'd say a 14' or 15' would be fine as long as you know your limits and choose your days. Winds can turn a nice day...

Re: question about livescope power use

I'd preserve your main as it is what will get you home. The current model F150 Yamaha alternator produces 50amps, but don't know how much of that is dedicated to engine.

Thought you had a small generator since you mentioned one. Might check into renting one, it could be an economical solution. [wink]

Re: question about livescope power use

Most small kickers in the 8 - 9.9 range produce 6amps @ WOT (what my 8hp electric start kicker produces). At trolling speeds you might get 1 to maybe 2 amps. Too many variables without knowing what engines, batteries, or an onboard charger (if you have one) to answer the questions. If you've got an ...

Quad go to bottom of the page, click on "members", then click on "find a member" then start typing in their name, and you'll see a popup window with member names. I got to "deep" and the 6th name listed is DeepCTim. Click on member's name and it goes to their profile page which gives you option to e...

Re: Question about hook holder?

Interesting idea - but why not just use one of the eye's already on the pole? Some of my poles have a small metal loop down near the real seat for that purpose, but not all of them. You would also need to be careful where you put it or it might fowl the line when casting - depending on the type of ...

They must not have put the link to the new regs before you checked, the 2019 - 2020 regs are now listed under Fishing/Shellfishing and Fishing Regulations - https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations

Lake ID in reports

Not that I want to create work, but is there any way to add the county for the lake in the reports section? For example, there must be close to half a dozen Clear Lakes in WA and with the old report system using what I'd call a list format the county was included. The new format doesn't show county ...
