Re: 2017 Trophy Bass Pictures Gallery
Been grinding big baits through the post spawn with minimal success until last thursday. Got a 6.1 on the G2 Shellcracker at dusk and on Saturday I caught a 7.14 and a 4.4 on the 8.5in Hiroshima Customs glide bait. Slump officially busted!

Re: Late Spring Bass Struggles
Mostly over?
Some lakes I know of just had their first big wave move up to spawn. I think it depends on what lake you are fishing, for sure. The weather delayed the spawn on my home lake this year as well. They are just now starting to bed good as of this last week.

Re: Late Spring Bass Struggles
Try fishing a little deeper. There is still lots of pre spawners out there on those lakes... The bed fish get the crap kicked out of them though so I usually leave them alone to do their thing.

Re: Decent beginner's baitcaster?
Get yourself a Blackmax by Abu Garcia. I started with a few of the original ones and I must say for the price they are very hard to beat. I think they run about 50. Im sure there are others that compare, but its worth a try!

Re: 2017 Not Quite Trophy But Still Nice Bass Pictures Galle
Nice one joe! I caught my 3rd and 4rth fish this season over 5lbs yesterday. This was the second biggest of the day behind a 7.6 and part of another 20+lb bag of westside largemouth. Aside from blowing up the drag on that reel a few fish later it was a stellar day!

Re: Spring/early summer weather patterns and bait selection
Typically sun will make them want to hug tight to cover and in overcast weather they will tend to roam or chase a little more. When the sun really starts getting powerful they will prefer the shaded and cooler areas so targeting cover with a vertical presentation works well. When the water warms up ...

Re: Spring/early summer weather patterns and bait selection
Perch, bluegill, sculpin, crawfish, trout. Anything that can pass for one of those will get bit. Ive seen em eat bullhead catfish too.. They will eat anything, but I tend to stick with natural colors. Spinnerbaits can work well in all conditions, but they work even better in windy overcast condition...
