Re: How are you beating the heat?
Was 108 here yesterday, supposed to be cooler today, only 105. Talked to my buddy in Seven Bays yesterday and it was 112 there after 5pm!

Staying indoors. Wish our forecast looked that good, triple digits here through Thursday, then 99/98/97 through Sunday. Already 90°here and not even 10am.

Re: Quiet trolling motor
Yeah, I measured and the bow to waterline when it's calm is about 34". If I place the motor just in front of the windshield (I've seen some people do this) it's about 32". I was hoping to get away with the 60" shaft unit since it's the only one I can find in stock *anywhere*, but I might need the 7...

The older I get the less willing I am to do for "strangers" especially these days with all manner of crazy people everywhere.

Re: Quiet trolling motor
The 80" shaft on our boat is set to max depth and will still break the surface if any wave action other than slight wind chop. Unless you're only going to be fishing in smooth water conditions, strongly suggest you follow Minn Kota's advice on shaft length. You start with your bow to water line meas...

Nothing new, it's been that way for a LONG time.

Re: Quiet trolling motor
A lot of people do as SalmonAddict indicated, really depends how much $$ you want to spend for how you fish. I have both on our boat and never use the bow mount to steer because I rarely ever troll under 2.5mph unless specifically chasing kokanee which is maybe once or twice a year.

Re: Quiet trolling motor
I think the 80lb, 24v bow mount might pull our boat, much heavier than the Klamath, 3.5 - 4mph at Max but don't know how long.
First step is to measure from the bow to water surface on a calm day, add 12" to that number, and you'll know required shaft length.

Re: Quiet trolling motor
So, as far as electrics go, how do I make sure I'm not at risk of losing power? If I'm out trolling 3.5mph against the wind all day, for example? Just my opinion, but you won't be out trolling 3.5mph against the wind very long with any 12v bow mount trolling motor on a 19' boat, and, due to the bow...

Re: Powering Scotty dowrigger in home shop
Sure, just need an AC/DC converter or an automotive battery charger with amp output equal to or greater than current draw for weight used. The standard depth power would need a max of 8amps with 15lbs, while the high performance models would need almost 15amps for same weight. Scotty chart here - ht...

Fish tanks, stand, accessories
Two tanks, 55 & 35gal, wrought iron double tank stand, gravel, accessories etc. $200 takes it all (tanks and stand alone are worth that) and all must go together. Will not separate.

Re: Updated Latest Reports Page View Option!
Mike the option to view in grid form vs image view has been changing for several months, for me at least. I prefer grid form and is what I select, but my selection will only stay in grid form for a short period of time before it changes back to image view. Sometimes it will remain in grid view 10day...

Re: Boat window replacement
I, too, find it incredible Duckworth doesn't have replacement glass for a 5yr old boat. If he can't get tempered, might have to go with laminated safety glass and most any well equipped automotive glass shop can make one.
