Re: Lake for quick boat test?
Lake Stevens has at least two launches. There's a WDFW launch right in the town that has a dock and launches into a rather sheltered area so perhaps not a lot of skiers right there.

Lake Entiat Columbia Smallmouth
Hi All, Going camping at Lincoln Rock on Lake Entiat this weekend. I've watched and read about the great smallmouth fishing on the Columbia, but most of its downstream from Rocky Reach Dam. Anyone have tips specific for Entiat? or know if it should be fished any different than other areas? I'm not m...

I'm going camping east of the mountains this weekend. Hoping the Area 9 quota lasts through the 16th!

Re: Puget Sound Chinook 2014
Hi Matt, just curious were you mooching or trolling? I was out Sunday 8-noon at Pilot Point and then rounded PNP without a strike (though probably half the time dragging around shakers that my rod watchers didn't notice) and didn't see any nets in the water.

There was a pretty extensive thread on this a while back (last fall maybe) and included flossing. You might search for that one.

Re: Puget Sound Chinook 2014
I wonder where they were fishing. 60/20 isn't a bad ratio compared to recent creel reports. I posted my report--goosegg out of Pilot Point and didn't see a net in the water in the 4 hrs I was out. Maybe we'll have Chinook and Coho come in at the same time this year?!?!

Re: Puget Sound Chinook 2014
So I'm finally getting back on the water this weekend. I'm launching out of Everett, and wondering if I should I stick around Possession or spend the time to motor up to Pilot Point/skunk bay/mid channel. Last reports I've seen have had Chinook improving at Pilot Point but am wondering if its enough...

Re: Blue Angels by boat - tips wanted
Many of the launches turn into one-way (all in before the angels, all out afterwards) and both Gene Coulon and Newport shores launches have folks directing traffic so the lines go fairly fast. Parking your trailer will be a challenge particularly if you are going out just for the show. I'd choose a ...

Re: Blue Angels by boat - tips wanted
I did the show from the water two days a couple year back. Most boaters view the show from the north of the pits. Unless you have log boom space, that means north of 520. It was fun, but crowded and pretty rough water. I would not do it in a 12' aluminum, but I'm a chicken. The second day we saw the...

Re: Boiling Crabs
Here's the advice from the state, not sayin' its gospel, but its good enough for me to clean them first. Crab: Eat Dungeness or red rock crab from non-urban areas of Puget Sound. Don’t eat the crab butter or viscera. Viscera are the internal organs under the shell. If you cook crab in boiled water, ...

Re: Boiling Crabs
I clean my crab first for all the reasons above and use salted water but more like half a cup per gallon. Since they are already cleaned I don't boil for as long as I did when whole (which was 15 minutes). More like 9 or 10 minutes after it comes back up to a boil. I then dunk in ice water to stop t...

Re: Area 8.1
I just looked at that last week and its pretty much the same as 8-2. Regs are in the paper regs and in the PDF version on the paper (don't know why DFW doesn't put up an easily accessible version that's mobile friendly).

Re: Crab Bouy Question.
I like the white duct tape, but not sure it will meet the "permanent" requirement. The name would be permanent, but the tape would not. I'd hope that the officers would overlook such a technical issue if everyone had a catch card and you were at or under the limit. If they were that persnickety I su...

Puget Sound Chinook 2014
Good luck with Chinook tomorrow in Area 9. I'm all geared up but blew the outdrive last night. Boo Hoo!
Hopefully the season will still be open by the time my boat's fixed.

Fish Lake is close by. There's an article on this site by Dave Graybill and they also have a lodge/store you can ask questions.

As they say, the time is now! Place sounds like below Wananupum dam. They'll be moving upriver too. I'm not sure what's between Wananupum and Brewster. Note: I've never actually fished for them. Check out Kyle Jones's posts. Sounds like he may be the man if you are looking to learn from an expert.

Re: Panfish in or around Seattle?
If you are including yellow perch in panfish, Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish are full of them. Seward Park, Kenmore, East Channel, and others on Lake Wa. I'm pretty sure there's an article on the site about Lake Wa perch. Washington, Lake Union, and the ship canal are supposed to have crappie bu...
