Re: Fresh Herring

Probably because it's so easy to catch them?

Gamakatsu Sabiki rig, size 5, or 4 dropped into a school of Herring with get you 9 Herring every time you reel up.

Unless you can't find a school of them, of course...

Re: lots of pinks at dash pt today

I have no doubt, but I can only imagine what a mess it is to cross 20 peoples lines when your fish takes a 10 foot run haha.

Seems like more trouble than anything...
I mean what happens when someone hooks up? There's no way everyone reels up and behaves nicely. ,

Re: Anyone have an open seat, or want to meet at the river s

I can't this Saturday, I'm squidding Friday night and hitting picnic point on Sunday. Pretty sure the wife would kill me if I went out Saturday too. Haha, and then on the 3rd I'll be slaying pinks on Whidbey, but hey, I'm sure we'll meet up sometime soon, I can't wait til the pinks hit, I swear I'm ...

Re: Anyone have an open seat, or want to meet at the river s

I'd come with you to a river, but I'm not any good at catching them either so you wouldn't learn too much.

Well, I guess I could teach you a thing or two about catching sculpin, I'm pretty good at that!

No, this weekend I'll be squidding at edmonds in Friday night, then Sunday I'll be at picnic point since my wife will be at a baby shower in meadowdale.

This will be the weekend after.

Looks like we will probably go to fort Casey after all... Forgot I'll have my wife and 2 year old with me, and they might get bored sitting on the beach at bush point.

Re: Beach near Freeland

Ok cool, that's one of the things I was worrying about with bush point, looking on Google maps it's all private beach, and also looks like tough parking situation.

Re: Beach near Freeland

Well ill just be passing through Freeland, I'll be near baby island at the tip of Holmes harbor, just hoofin it.

I'll try to check out bush point, I think fort Casey would be too far, looks like probably an extra 30 minute drive from Freeland.

Beach near Freeland

I'll be on Whidbey island near Freeland on August 3rd, and would like to hit the beach for an hour or two if I have time. What would be a good place to hit? I see there's a Whidbey island state park there but I'm not sure where I can or can not fish since 90% of Whidbeys shoreline is privately owned...

I wouldn't be opposed to it if the tribes actually used the fish and took only what they needed, but they just rape the rivers and sell it off.

Re: closest open beach bay fishing

I just checked, picnic point us just south of the shipwreck, so it's open.

There's also Meadowdale beach park, or edmonds marina pier.

Re: closest open beach bay fishing

I'll probably make it to picnic point next weekend. A little early for pinks, but after trying to catch steelhead all summer, I don't really think it'll be any different, haha. Cast a thousand times and catch one fish. Works for me!

Here's a site you can get the tools and parachute cord from, probably cheaper to make your own lead shot, or even buy it from cabelas or something.

Re: salmon/fishing tattoo ideas?

It would be a good thing to find a tattoo artist you like, and ask him to come up with a design.

I know the guys at slave to the needle do this, they designed a few tattoos for a friend and they look great and are definitely one of a kind.

I have a lami x11, the 8'6" med-heavy. I've been using it for drifting and I like it just fine. I've only used it probably 10-15 times out though.
