Re: Natives given the “ok” to kill seals?
An interesting video on the subject.

The explosion in our Puget Sound seal population could very well be the catalyst for our declining chinook stocks.

Re: Herring strips with Hoochies
I'm a herring-strip guy. I take whatever size herring I have, fillet them and then cut the fillet into approximately 1/4" strips. The strips are then layered with rock salt in a 1 quart freezer bag and put in the fridge overnight. After the cold soak they can be stored in the freezer. I do not use a...

Re: Any experience with using 'Closed cell foam-- Pool Noodles' for flotation within boat?
Ping-pong balls? Interesting?? Is this just a random idea, or have you heard of it being done? It kind of just seems like the amount of air held in a ton of ping pong balls still wouldn’t be much of a gain in flotation. But I will ponder this. I have not used them but a year or so ago I was researc...

Re: Downrigger Weight Snubber Vs bumper
I use the snubbers with a long-line clamp to attach the ball. While I don't nesseccarily subscribe to the shock protection side of it, I do find the snubbers very "handy". I have problems with my hands and the thicker diameter of the snubbers makes it possible for me to handle my----downrigger weigh...

Re: Big changes coming in regards to trout and kokanee fishing on Washington State lakes
Timely post, I was laying in bed last night reading the new regulations and noticed the change. I had planned to post the information this morning. For our local northenders the following lakes now have a 10 fish Kokanee limit: Cavanaugh Roesiger Sammish Whatcom As always check and double check the ...

Re: Makes me wonder if WDFW is getting worried about license sales?
Although there a few exceptions I try to avoid the combat fisheries also. Maybe because I'm old and just don't need a fish that bad or blessed over the years, where we kind of been there done that or who knows... An exception may be the Baker Lake sockeye fishery but that is a unique beast all of it...

Re: Makes me wonder if WDFW is getting worried about license sales?
Going against the current a bit I have a different view on this. With an all inclusive fishing license you're spending about 50 cents a day for the right to fish, not a bad deal in my book. If you compare your license fees to the cost of your boat, tow vehicle, insurance, gear, fuel, clothing, bait,...

A Hunter/Buddy on the step of our TJ keeps the enclosure toasty warm. Typically we get 4-5 hours on the low setting.

Columbia River North Jetty Closure
It looks like the North Jetty fishery will be closed through 2019. Parking and access will be restricted in support of critically needed jetty repairs.

The CCA derby on Baker Lake. It runs Friday-Sunday this weekend. Enjoy the format, the big money goes to the Mystery Weight. You just have to catch a fish not necessarily the big one.
