Re: What species do you target in the fall at lake merwin
Most west-side lakes trout should be turning on right now, just not as many fish as you find in the spring. I prefer fall trout fishing as the fish are bigger and taste much better due to feeding on a natural diet since spring. I also find it easier to get into hold-overs as you are not having to fi...

Re: Skagit and Cascade open to Coho 9/28
I have never fished the rivers... Can you clue me in on the where, what, and how? I would like to try this Sat. Thanks! Depends on how you are fishing, from the bank or a boat. Almost all my experience on the Skagit has been between Fir Island and where the north and south forks converge. The lower...

Re: What happened to Chum in the fishin reports
That screenshot is only on the reports for the past 30 days. If you search any river, or any salt area, chum is on the drop down to search for. You just need to search by body of water. Don't know why it's not in the drop down for the past 30 days, just search whatever body of water, and it's there.

Skagit and Cascade open to Coho 9/28
Just read on the WDFW site that the Skagit and Cascade open for Coho 9/28. 4 fish limit on the Skagit but only 2 can be native, and a 4 fish limit on the Cascade.

Re: Coho Closure Protest **We Need Your Support**
This whole thing makes me cry. I live on Camano, went down to Cavalero Park just to have a look..... Coho surfacing everywhere, flipping their tail at me like they were flipping me off.. laughing. Rivers and Marine areas need to open up now.

Re: What is a Kokanee
I would like to get some opinions from others on the subject of, "what is a Kokanee" I apologize if this has been discussed already I have done a search. came up empty. I have just started fishing for Kokanee this year. Done a fair amount of reading on these fish. Everything I have read has told me...

Re: I need a bass lake! (Skagit - ish)
Lots of Skagit/Whatcom bass fishing reports from 8theB8. Look up his reports, you should get a very good idea of where you want to go based on how you want to fish. His reports are very detailed.

Re: Lake Goodwin
If you do any fishing from shore, there always seems to be a trout fisherman or two fishing about 50 yds N of the swimming area on the "point" there. It's a nice wooded area with open area for casting your pb or worm. I've seen enough guys there when I'm bass fishing that they must be catching a fi...

Re: Lake Goodwin
I fish Goodwin regularly. Trout will still bite in August, just don't try trolling. After the first week in July I have not been able to get them to take any offering trolling. I've tried everything. They will however still bite if you still fish. Use a slip sinker and about 4 feet of leader, anchor...

Re: west side guides for small kids
I've fished with Jeff 3 times. Twice I have taken my nephew who was 14 the first time, 15 this time, and he is the typical face in whatever gadget he has, hasn't even gotten his knees dirty from playing outside ever typical kid of today. Both times he grinned from ear to ear after fishing with Jeff....

Re: west side guides for small kids
Being 7, constant action might be good? If anyone this side is still doing Kokanee, that would be good. I think most have moved on though to the salt or rivers further south that can still be fished. I know Chelan Mackinaw can be about 2 fish an hour, more if your lucky. Darrell and Dad's I know tak...

I've had this sick feeling we are going to be watching a fantastic run of Coho enter the sound and run up the rivers while we all sit, watch, and cry.

Re: Lake Chelan advice
If you are going to troll, be aware that you will be constantly adjusting the downrigger. Hand cranking will be a lot of work, doable, but you will definitely know you worked. I've seen people jig successfully for Mack's there. Pretty much find a mark, drop your line to the bottom, and start jigging...
