Re: 7.5 foot Livingston
That's way down there, though occasionally I travel the 90 minute trip to Nahwatzel myself! Yeah, 14-15" fish are a decent size and fun to catch. I've just taken a batch of them out of the smoker. Another lake you may wish to try around there is Lost lake, a little west of Nahwatzel. Try trolling a ...

Re: 7.5 foot Livingston
Congrats on your purchase! As I was reading your post, I was imagining how stoked I would be and then got to you being "pumped"! Exactly! A whole new world just opened up! I don't suppose you're anywhere near Kitsap are you. I often fish lakes there and in Jefferson county.

I've no doubt that a 30 lb thrust will move it along nicely, with the given that it is an electric motor.
Re: My Father
Condolences from here as well. My father went into a nursing home at the end of summer and just had a rough bout about 10 days ago. Luckily I was there on the east with him at the time and we got to talk a bit about fishing. This stuff happens, but it is always too soon and too painful. Luckily fish...

Re: Wear a life jacket or don't go
Thank you Tom. I didn't know they existed, but it is only logical that they do, or would in the near future. I said the above because I was very happy to finally get one of the more traditional, pull-the-cord CO2 types, and got to thinking while going very fast in a friend's boat, that should someth...

Re: Wear a life jacket or don't go
Something that should be kept in mind when flying through the water at some of the speeds mentioned: Leaving the boat at that speed, those inflatable life jackets aren't likely to do you much good if you are unconscious or have swallowed any amount of water. They are light, comfortable and convenien...

All the best, Jeff!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
FYI: Friends and I take a couple trips east to fish for walleye each year. When you are up to it, you may consider giving that a shot. The Potholes Reservoir, Moses Lake and Banks Lake are all great spots.

Re: Chart Plotter/Phone Programs for Washington Lakes
Dutchman: I am up in north Kitsap, so can't say for anything for sure about those particular lakes, but I have taken it out on a relatively small lake - Leland (Jefferson County) and as far as I am concerned, it is excellent! I was initially concerned about how I would go about locating the lake I n...

Re: Chart Plotter/Phone Programs for Washington Lakes
I picked up the Garmin 53DV echomap and early this year and it comes with LakeVu built in. I moved up from a basic $100 fishfinder and I couldn't be happier. It has 1' depth intervals and this unit also allows you to map any bodies of water it does not have e.g. all saltwater, for crabbing and shrim...

No need to be sorry in the slightest. Thank you for taking the time to bring us up to speed. I had no idea. I for one would appreciate if you keep us in the loop as things progress, so we can try to support you in any way we can and to know when you've gotten through all this. I'm sure you've heard ...

Re: Everyone should do it at least once!
Thanks very much for that quick reply. It's nothing to sneeze at but if you get a fish like that, with plaque and shipping, that seems quite reasonable. Now all I have to do is catch a fish like that!

Re: Everyone should do it at least once!
Frankly, I have never considered this before. That's probably because I've never caught a fish anywhere near that size! I can only imagine the fight.
Can anyone give a rough estimate of what something like that would run? And if not something that size, roughly for any other size? Thanks.

Re: Tribal gil nets are in the water in MA 10
At the risk of fanning any flames, I see we are back to the tribes being mostly unaccountable, and the non tribal fishers being "bean counted", offered as fact rather than opinion. Allow me to present some actual facts, and I would appreciate hearing how they are incorrect. Commercial fisheries are ...

Re: Tribal gil nets are in the water in MA 10
At the risk of invoking the ire of many, allow me to state that I disagree with much of what has been said. First of all, I think WDFW did you a disservice with the response that was provided and I would be very surprised if a repeat call to a different person at WDFW would get you an answer anywher...

Re: Parents coming in to town - Want to treat them to some scenery and a little fishing.
Depending on their experience, a ferry ride is always a great way to see the area from the water, at relatively little expense. If you went to Kingston, the small downtown is 'quaint', walkable and very tourist friendly. From there the north tip of the peninsula is only a 20 minute drive away and of...

Re: 'Other lakes on Colville Reservation' ??
I fished Buffalo this spring and landed a nice 23" rainbow, my personal best. I also caught a nice sized crappie, but not much else. The lake is supposed to be great for crawfish and I have seen many of them, or at least moults in the past. Also, maybe a couple of springs ago the bass were plentiful...

Re: solar for troller
I have not done this but had considered it. Search the forum. According to a number of people who have provided input, the amount of power you would get in a day given any reasonable boat-sized solar panel, would be minimal. Trusting this I did pick up a phone power pack that has a built-in solar pa...

That's my take on it as well: lakes, rivers and salt water.
