Re: Area 8-1 questions

You can troll for Cutthroat, but keep in mind if it CnR only. If you troll traditional cutthroat gear in close along the shorelines you should have some success with willing cutties in that area. Also, targeting Steelhead is a real possibility in 8-1 and 8-2. I know the old timers would trill wiggle...

Re: I'm feeling crabby....

Might be able to ON the 4th but I'm having a crab feed of my own on the 3rd here. So we'll be crabbing Fri and Sat to get the needed groceries. I'm planning to crab in 8-1 out of Coronet with hopes of running out DP to go look for Nookie in A7...... Assuming we are green lighted by NOAA by then.

I'm feeling crabby....

A little birdie has informed me that pre-season tests indicate Dungeness numbers and size are both on par with what we saw in 2015. Better get your danielson traps and chicken legs ready. It's gunna be another fun one!

Re: Sockeye fishing in salt water.

Why a compelling argument? Regs say 2 sockeye, if your're fishing for sockeye you're fishing for sockeye. They won't give you any guff. I have caught a few here and there in the San Juans and it is always by accident. We caught one last season at Hein Bank in July fishing for Chinook. It hit a 3" Sp...

Re: Flounder out of everett?

You can literally just go out around the corner of the jetty and start fishing. There is a huge silt delta that comes out from the Snohomish River. That's where everyone crabs in the summer. Just anchor in 25 feet of water and give it hell.

Shrimp chunks or nightcrawlers.

Re: Looking for a lever drag level wind reel

I run two charter specials on my boat. They are certainly not the best reels made but they are pretty damn bullet proof. Very easy to work on with parts readily available online as well which is bonus. I have rebuilt my own.

Re: This weekends forcast

Another HUGE consideration when looking at forecasts is the direction of the wind in conjunction with the tidal stage. If you are fishing a tide that is going AGAINST the wind you can guarantee it is going to be choppy snotty crap. If the wind is blowing the same direction as the current often times...

Re: Duwamish in the news.

Resident fish and shellfish in the Lower Duwamish Waterway are so contaminated by PCBs, the state Health Department advises there is no safe amount to eat — yet people keep right on fishing. I would be interested to know more information about this assertion. I assume this is in regards to resident...

Re: Bank Access for Sturgeon

We have had success on squid, herring, and shrimp all 3. We would take whole herring and just throw them in rock salt a day or 2 until they were like rubber, then half hitch them a bunch of times with dacron and throw them out. Stayed on the hook a long time and stunk to high heaven. I would say we ...

Anyone else?

Re: Bank Access for Sturgeon

There is bank access in Stanwood. Check the aerial maps. All of those waterways hold sturgeon. 3-4 sandshrimp tied on the hook with stretchy thread/miracle thread. Fish the flood, and slack. If the current is moving too much your bait wont lay flat on bottom. I would REALLY consider stepping that br...

Re: Area 9 Likely To Open January 16th.

A lot will come down to where the Hawks place in the playoff berth TBH. If they get a Saturday schedule I will probably miss the opener.... I plan to fish 2 days of the 3 though, hopefully. The tides that weekend are a bit tricky, but I'll prob be running either to the PnP area or possibly DB first ...
