Lake Trout?

Does anyone have a list of what mountain lakes in Wa actually have lake trout? I know that Lake Isabelle and Eight Mile lake have been planted with them, but I don't know if they are still any left or not, or which other lakes might have them. I am probably going to go back to Eight mile soon and tr...

State and tribal officials agree to salmon plan

This still has to be approved by the Feds, but it's good news for all you salt water fisherman regardless. Re: Good early alpinelakes

I might be heading to boardman, coal, pass and independence tomorrow... there wouldn't be a crowd other than a few hikers
Memorial day weekend there should be tons of people out there.

Re: Good early alpinelakes

I have fished a lot of alpine lakes but I don't remember ever having good fishing this early except I did catch a fish or two in Eight mile lake in May a few years ago. I know last year a few people had some good early fishing at Cottonwood lake by lake Keechelus, but I think they caught most of the...

Re: Got this warning from the Warden yesterday

You know, planted fish are planted for catching. I don't like harming fish either, but I think you guys are being way to hard on the guy, bordering on obnoxious.

Best Places to Access Moses Lake?

So, I am planning to do some fishing in Moses Lake this spring and I have never fished there before. It sounds like there are some good parks there, but I can't find any information about fees or passes required. Since Cascade and Blue Heron are city parks does that mean they're free for day use, or...

Fall Trout tips?

I usually get out a few times to fish in the fall and it's usually hit or miss. Lakes are especially variable because it's harder to find the fish of course. I have read that at some point in the fall the water layers shift as the air cools the surface and the waters sinks. This is supposed to make ...

Re: Mirror and Cottonwood lakes

I was at Cotton wood in June or July I believe and the fish wouldn't touch lures or powerbait. There were a few feeding regularly on bugs, but they wouldn't even look at spinners or spoons. There didn't seem to be many fish left, at least there were only a few feeding on bugs so maybe most of them h...

Re: Annette lake

I just hiked up there yesterday. Lots of tiny fish jumping right off shore, but I only caught two trolling for and hour and a half and the bigger one was only about 8 inches. The small ones seemed to be around 3-5 inches judging by their splashes, so maybe in 3-4 years there will be some OK sized on...

Re: Annette lake

I fished it a few years ago. The fish are scrawny and nothing over 8-9 inches, but it is pretty.

Re: Hyas Lake

I went to both of those lakes last September and didn't see any signs of fish in either. I did see a ranger leaving Hyas though , and he said there are fish in there, including some good sized ones, but they're hard to catch. It is a shallow lake, it looked like the far end might be a little deeper,...

It has Cutthroat and Brook trout, I didn't catch any rainbows when I was there last year.

Re: Lake Kachess info?

I wasn't looking for Kokanee and I didn't go far from shore because I was in a little raft and the water was so cold. I'm just trying to get an idea of when fish usually start biting there.

Lake Kachess info?

I went to Lake Kachess about three weeks ago and the water was freezing. No one seemed to be catching anything. Can I assume that in the next few weeks they might start biting? That was my first time at Kachess so I don't know anything about fishing it, but it is a pretty area.

Re: need explanation of the effect of pressure systems

With trout I think it's the sunlight that turns them off more than the pressure. In my experience, after morning if it's sunny trout go into hiding, at least in deep lakes. In ponds and shallow lakes it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Re: Mackinaw in Kachess/Keechelus

I thought I had read that Keechelus had lake trout about ten years ago? If so they probably don't now. They stock some trout and Kokanee there, which is probably what you saw people fishing for.

When to start fishing mountain reservoirs

So, I like fishing in the mountains, and I'm never sure how early I can expect to find fish biting there. It seems to me that in Western Washington they wouldn't be warm enough until probably July. I live in Yakima now and today I tried an early trip to Rimrock with my canoe but didn't catch anythin...
