Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers
For line I prefer izorline in the 10-12 lb range. No need for heavy line and no need for braided line unless you are float fishing so it all depends on what and how you are using it. If you are float fishing 15 lb braided works great

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers
I go as light as possible. Better to detect bites and way more fun. I bought a Berkley air im8 last year and works just fine paired with a shimano symetre 2500 with 10lb line. Ive caught coho, chum and pinks on it and is great. Its a 9'6 light action rod rated for 6-10lbs. Those 8-17 lb okumas are t...

I avoid atlantic salmon at all cost but if I was catching and keeping that many I would smoke them. Would never do anything with them besides that

Re: Snohomish river
Thats an awesome stretch of water. You never have to worry about the fish going stale or not having enough room either. The fish are migrating fresh and aggressive and there are miles of river to fish there. I hardly ever see people fish there too. To top it off its easy to fish with mostvwater bei...

Re: Breaking news: OPEN SEASON on Atlantic Salmon - is this real!?!?
as they can causr havoc on our local stocks As far as a threat goes I just don't see it. They've never been able to successfully crossbreed with Pacific salmon and they're in an environment where there's predators around (the seals will more than likely get more than the nets or rod & reel). Well p...

I hate muddy waters lol. Jonb is right though. Find your own spots instead of just going what others do. Down with poachers. I should start a new hate group call FTPA.

I wonder if that means area 9 and 8-2 are open for them as well. Lol. Really doubt it but one can be hopeful. Hope some of you put a hurting on these fish as they can causr havoc on our local stocks. Some of these fish carry disease for one and they can also be competition to our local stocks.

Re: Snohomish river
Its usually just a few minutes roughly 30. Depending on how strong the tide is. For example if it goes from 9ft to 0 ft that's a strong tide and usually is only about 15 minutes but if its 9 ft to 4 ft not so strong and can take longer. May suggest launching some place where the tide isnt an issue. ...

Not fast at all actually. I usually try to stay between 1 and 1.5 mph but sometimes speed it up to 2.5 if I'm not getting anything.

Actually the Seahawks brads super bait put a lot of kings on boats in the reach last fall. Though I do agree that a lot of lures are just a marketing scheme

Re: Snohomish river
I agree with Jon and know for a fact that pinks don't wait or care for rains. A lot has to do with timing of the run. Remember pinks can spawn in brackish water. Either way I really don't like fishing the tidewaters and sloughs. To much muck for my liking! Just hoped I could get some info if anyone ...

Was wondering if anybody has been to the Snohomish since it opened! Not looking for details but rather just asking to see if anybody has seen any fish rolliing or jumping and if you feel like sharing if anyone has caught or seen anyone catch anything

Re: Where are the Baker Lake Sockeye?
Yeah, I don't think there's any way the tribes have netted 20,000 plus sockeye this year. Wasn't referring to them netting the remainder of the forecasted fish but rather how the numbers have dropped the last 2 days drastically could have been caused by netting. Might jump back up but even then I d...

Re: Where are the Baker Lake Sockeye?
Tribal netting might have caused the numbers to drop but even then I have been skeptical of the forecast. Seems like every year they have been forecasting higher number then what actually show up

Re: Im cursed with Springer fishing....
All I use is lighter tackle. Heavier tackle takes the fun out of it. I use a rod rated for 8-12lbs no matter what species of salmon I'm after on the river. Never had an issue. It also helps in detecting light bites. A lot of old timers think you have to use heavier rods but I disagree all the way. I...

Re: Skagit Sockeye!
And this is just my speculation, or my .02 cents.... The numbers are over inflated due to the fact that we the sportsmen and sportswomen know what WDFW and the natives are up to..... Its obvious that they have been already transferring baker lake sockeye/skagit river sockeye to the natives since 20...
