Re: Fishfinders, what to buy, what to buy...?

I am getting ready to make my first major fish finder investment also. I refuse to shop at Cabelas but that's a story for another day. I was ready to buy a Hummingbird 856c then a charter boat captain friend of mine talked me into looking at Garmins. I fish all fresh water right now but we are plann...

Re: spin cast reel suggestions ?

I own several Pflueger president reels. We use them for every thing from jigging to trolling and every thing in between. I have never had a problem with any of them and would recommend them any day. I believe that in 30 years we will look back on these reals the same way that we look back on the old...

Re: Roosevelt lake bank fishing

We have been bank fishing at Ft Spokane. I like fishing between the bridge and the boat ramp area, its close to the parking lot so packing fire wood is no big deal and there is a sani-can there. We use a slip bobber and a #6 hook on 40" leader. If you don't get bites right away then trim a foot of t...

Re: Beware Lake Roosevelt Anglers

Good to know, Thanks for the info. Tribes will not be satisfied until they have control of most all fishing and regulate the rules for non tribal members. In my opinion as long as folks support tribal casinos and tribal business they are giving tribes huge amounts of money and money buys power in go...

Re: Has Anybody Tried the "Stand Out Hook?"

I have been using them this winter ice fishing. I rig two hooks about a foot apart and a weight about a foot under the lowest hook. I have been very pleased, I can see the slightest nibble with the hooks on the main line verses the fish having to take up the slack in a leader. Next month I plan on f...

Re: Plunking/Plunking Shack on the Green River

During my 55 years of fishing I have never done this plunking thing in a river, but if it involves fishing, a wood fire and beer then I'm up for the fun. Merry Christmas to all fishermen(and ladies)

Re: banks lake chinook?

Are you guys talking about the large silvers that have been in there for years, or land lock Chinook? I just spent a couple hours looking on the internet and I don't find anything about Chinook in Banks Lake. I'm always interested in a new fishery.

Re: Boat Hull Repair

To me it depends on the type damage. I got a dent in the upper bow of my Hewes so I contacted the factory(only about 80 miles from my house) they said they don't recommend ever taking a dent out of aluminum because of the metal had been stressed and it would start cracking over time. They say to fil...

Re: Community break in camera crew

The only time I fish Western Washington is on my friends charter boat in Westport, other than that I fish all of Eastern Washington about 140-200 days per year. The only thing I have ever lost are two poles with reels taken from my open portion of my boat while parked overnight at a motel in Moses L...

Re: Exterior crawlspace/foundation venting.

I live on a hill above Spokane, it is +7 with about a 15mph wind right now. We just leave a little cold water trickle when ever temps drop below 10-12 degrees. Wind chill only effects something with blood so don't forget the pets. As far as the vents it is very important that they stay open and circ...

Amx, I don't like to disagree with anything that folks believe to be true but in my own experience I use 2-4-d in my pastures with horses actively feeding and around my yard and garden where my pets are running and playing and have never in several years had any problems. Also for several years I ow...

Re: Hanford Reach

We launch at Vernita two weeks ago and I wont go back. The fact that I took out the prop while loading up was bad enough but the people fishing from leaving their fish carcasses laying every place you looked was horrible. With the flies and bees and just having to walk thru and step on the mess was ...

Re: Trimming lily pad fields to your "Liking"

I owned a small resort on an eastern Washington lake that was about 2/3rds covered with Lilly pads. I found a company online named Aquacide, they have several different herbicide sinking tablets that I used for the same reason that you are talking about. I used them around my docks and to create fis...

I have seen mature steelhead in several small creek in the Cashmere and Leavenworth areas and even ...

Sorry Hewesfisher I didnt mean to contradict you or step on any toes, but I owned Downs Lake resort from 2001 thru 2006 when I sold because my wife(who ran the resort) passed away. I sold to the Griffy family. Unknown to any of us at the time of the sale they were forced to upgrade the electrical th...

Re: Lake Wenatchee Opens for Sockeye

We fished opening day. Fished 3 poles for 14 hours and got 5 fish(one had a large hole thru it,looked like a gun shot). Some folks were doing better then us but about 50 boats that we fished around all day were still fishing when we headed in. We also released at least 7 or 8 Dolly Varden.
