The only place that I have ever intentionally fished for carp was at Potholes. They were up in the shallows with romance on their minds. The only fly that they were interested in was a brown leach pattern fished really slow. Old rubber lips really can smoke the drag when they take off.

How is the parking around the Mercer Marine launch? Security?

Anywhere works for me as long as I can use my new pontoon boat.

For me live kelp greenlings are the best real bait. For artificials I really like the larger swim baits.

I let the fish decide. Some days (or hours) they prefer the paste baits, other times the old egg and worm sandwich floated up by a mini mallow works better for me.
