RE:Skagit Kings
There is a boat launch under the south fork bridge where you cross from Conway to Fir Island. There is a boat launch just down stream of the North fork bridge (rexville to fir island, on the island side), I believe it is off Rawlins Road. There will be signage along Fir Island Road. I believe there ...

RE:Skagit Kings
Been seeing a LOT of boats on the north fork each day, and few scattered further upstream today.
Guess there is a pic of a forty-something pounder at Holiday Sports that was just caught.
Haven't made it out myself...too many "excuses."

RE:I'll take "light boats for $1000", Alex
Why replace your 10footer if it's working well for you? You can buy a NEW galvanized trailer for $700ish if you shop around. Nice aluminum trailers start around $800ish. That'd save you a couple hundred to throw at boat upgrades. A good aluminum or galvanized trailer will hold it's value for several...

STILL LOOKING!
Just figured I'd give the guys and gals of WashingtonLakes.com one more chance to get rid of that spare motor collecting dust.
It's hard to find a clean short-shaft...and I'd really like a little more uuummmph!
Thanks!

RE:pinks are coming
I think I'm going to bring along a medium weight rod and see if I can use it on my down rigger without breaking it. Not quite the same, but I've been using a medium weight 6' 6" ugly stick for humpies for as long as I can remember. As for gear, I'm old school...pink spoon casting it/around logs in ...

RE:catch and release with powerbait?! thats right
Unfortunately the use of bait here in WA (in any capacity) limits the angler to 5 and you're done, released or otherwise unless they get off before they can be landed. +1, and dont forget even just a scent counts as bait. Great idea to help the odds of fish survival, though...just make sure you sto...

Random strangers you met that day? No thanks...
I have a couple lakes I frequent, and I usually run across the same few guys...When you keep seeing the same guys, and chat with them a few times a week/months, you start to figure out just what kind of person they are...then yes, I'd consider it!

RE:Engine repair: Seized shaft bearing on a 7.5 Merc
Whats the downside? A little lost time?
Better than watching TV isn't it?
Best case scenario you get a running motor for under $40 and a little more knowledge to throw in the bank.
Then again, I'm a tinkerer by nature so I wouldn't even have to ask!

Looking for outboard...
Looking for a short-shaft outboard for my 12' aluminum. Focusing on a 9.9-15hp, but will consider a 7.5-8hp for the right price...newer is better, but definitely won't pass up well maintained older motors. I've been watching the classifieds/craigslist pretty hard, but most of the deals are gone by t...

RE:Cleaning fish in the field
My feelings exactly, Anglinarcher (though I wasn't going challenge him - since he was the guy renting me a boat for the day). I bet if you asked a dozen officers at a dozen lakes you'd get a dozen different answers. Ultimately, whatever the law says, it's the officer in front of your face that you ...

RE:Cleaning fish in the field
For rainbows, in most places there aren't size/weight/sex/etc restrictions...so all you must do is retain proof of the species. I clean all mine immediately, but leave the head and skin attached--then throw 'em on ice. As for as the guts are concerned...a good practice is to leave them in 15+ feet o...
RE:Hooked
I put one hook of a #8 treble into the center of my lower lip. I was caught on a snag, while standing on a floating log...more worried about not falling in then where and how my rod was loading up. Had I not flinched and started to duck, it wouldn't been in my through. The hook didn't go through my ...

RE:Alpine Lakes / Canoe Fishing
True alpine lakes fishing and a canoe really aren't a match. If you really want to fish the high altitude lakes you'll need to do a fair bit of hiking and if you want to get out on the water in something that floats you'd be well served by a packable inflatable. +1 If you really want to experience ...

I dunno about you guys, but I'm thinking the lower skagit is going to be a ZOO for these pigs...combat fishing at it's finest...??? RE:Oar storage...?
I appreciate the ideas guys! Still trying to figure something out though--tried forcing them under the middle seat side brace again...just managed to scratch the heck out of the oars--they won't even come clost to fitting from any direction. The boat is going to be a freshwater only boat...small lak...

RE:Good Boat? Good Price? Where To Store?
Just about any marine shop or sporting goods store will have a myriad of locks for both your hitch and your outboard. I'd shy away from cable locks for the outboard--too easily cut. A decent one can be made from some C-channel or square tubing and a good padlock--or something similar can be purchase...

I was thinking of something like this: http://i21.ebayimg.com/01/i/001/3d/9c/c409_1.JPG Only perhaps threaded so they can be attached next to my rod-holder bases, rather than having to install new oar locks... Do they make such a thing? Or something like these ATV rifle holders? http://i12.ebayimg.c...

Oar storage...?
Hey guys, I picked up that Harbercraft package a few weeks back. Fortunately, cash talked and I got a deal! I've had it out on the lakes a few times, but I'm looking for a quick bit of advice regarding oar storage. When I'm transporting the boat, I just stuff the business end of the oars under the m...
