Re: Super Braided Lines & Trout Fishing

a double loop polymeyer or a uni-knot being the best choises for me. Hey T-Bone, what's a double loop polymeyer knot? I've used a double uni-knot to attach leader to braid, but have never heard of the other one you mention. Is it easier to tie than a double uni? AKA, the Nanofil Knot: http://www.be...

Re: Super Braided Lines & Trout Fishing

Some braids require a "break-in"; for example Spiderwire will make a "noise" through the guides for a period of time and then with use, the "noise" disappears. Nanofil does not make any noise; casts a mile, but I do not find it to be not as abrasion resistant as Spiderwire or its clones. Nonetheless...

Super Braided Lines & Trout Fishing

After trout fishing for decades, I've finally taken to using various types and brands of the so-called super braids of line as my mainline on my UL / L spinning reels. I fought the idea for years, but I now use them almost exclusively. However, I do use a fluorocarbon leader. I use either 4 Lb. or 6...

Re: Fishing in spokane

Sprague Lake has bank access via two resorts and lots of bank access via a large public access on the Westend. The rainbows grow LARGE with fish 20"+ not uncommon. Lake Roosevelt has lots of bank fishing and the quality of the fish's flesh is excellent. Lots more lakes open on the last Saturday in A...

Anyone See The Police Response At W. Medical 5/12?

I understand local law enforcement finally cracked down on the near entrenched group at the West Medical boat launch on 5/12. I was fishing that day, but I left before the show. This group has been not only been overfishing this area for weeks, but also even been brazeningly fishing off the "NO FISHI...

Clearwater Guide

Can someone give me a guide recommendation for the Clearwater River in Idaho? My wife and I were "Steelhead Junkies" when living West of the Cascades, but years have gone by since we actively went steelheading. Any help as to guides and best month would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Tom

Re: Public meetings set on proposed treatments for three eas

I am a regular Badger Lake fisherman. At first I thought the rehab treatment to be of merit, but I have since changed my mind. In spite of a minimal Spring stocking of only 100 trout, I am still catching some very nice trout from Badger. I suspect these fish are hold overs from last year. The bass f...

Re: Opening day for trout 2013

Read the reg.'s; in general, WA manages their lakes and streams individually (i.e. by each water); simply, look up the water you wish to fish. You are missing a lot of uncrowded, good fishing by waiting around for "the last Saturday in April". The current reg.'s are good until 4/30/2013; many lakes ...

Re: Where is best to catch the BIG CATFISH??

I formally lived in Ferndale, near Lake Terrell and saw several photos of channel catfish in the 20lb range taken from the lake. One very good catfisherman used orange PowerBait to catch them and the large rainbows present in the lake. Catfish have been stocked for years in Lake Terrell; so some ver...

Re: Rude people on docks

Your rude behavior for the shore bound fisherman extends beyond docks and even Western WA. Today, I lost my temper on a twin to "Ma Barker" and her husband in a wheelchair. On an Eastern WA lake with very limited shore access, "Ma" decided to move in Cowliz/Blue Creek- fashion on me without so much ...

Re: Adding Scents to Powerbait

I do it all the time; especially when fishing PowerEggs. Yes, I do think it makes a BIG difference. I've seen the trout show a preference on different days to one scent or the other. The gels seem to stay the best; with crawfish, shrimp and garlic being some of my favorites.

Re: new fishermen to washington!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just remember to p/u a current copy of the WDFW Fishing Regulations. In general, each lake or stream has its own set of rules and season; pick the water you want to fish; look it up in the regs. and then go fishing. Some of the waters mentioned in a previous post aren't open yet; so be cautious and ...

RE:Cultural Thing Or...

I guess in my post, I neglected to mention that the vehicles of the suspects involved are all one or two year old(?) newer, vehicles. I don't believe an empty stomach is the motivation. I've encountered the "fish it until it drops to nothing" mentality in a wide assortment of people. However, this t...

Cultural Thing Or...

My local favorite trout lake has been discovered by two very different, but similar minded recent immigrant groups; I'll say one is Russian or Ukranian and the other Asian of some sort. This lake has very limited bank access and both of these particular indiviuals and their friends are showing up pr...

RE:where to fish??

Liberty Lake does have very limited bank angling at the public launch. It is a bit hard to find for a first timer and the local residents have a habit of taking down the directional signs to it. Sprague Lake is open and offers good access at the public launch area and via two resorts. Lake Roosevelt...

RE:Sprague Lake - 1st trip

Largemouth bass have been stocked in Sprague Lake, but I doubt any are of catchable size, yet. However, the trout are HUGE with 5-6lbs-er's being very common. Try trolling small crankbaits or still fishing with corn or a marshmellow and worm. If you plan to eat the trout; clean them ASAP and put the...
