I stopped by Medical Lake for a few minutes today to see how the lake looked. While there, Captain Mike ? from the game department stopped by and we had a very nice visit. He informed me that their office is keeping a close eye on the lake and have cited several people in the last two weeks and a couple of arrests=d> . I also learned that the department plays a very big role in overall law enforcement. They have the same enforcement capability as the WSP, and work very close with them. An area that they get involved in quite a bit is drug enforcement. Mike told me they make a lot of drug busts. This all makes sense, since many lakes and rivers cross over international lines in the N.W.
So, for any of you out there in cyberspace that think that the game wardens are nothing more than a group of "campus cops", think again.
Oh, BTW. When they are talking to a questionable individual, they will often do a NCIC check on them for warrants. That is a nation wide check. That is how they nabbed that guy at Fish Lake last week. Mike told me that there was a felony warrant out on him for burglary. I now feel a whole lot safer when the wardens are around. They are weeding out the creeps!
