Ultra Light Ugly Stick for trout season this year

Post by triehl27 » Fri Apr 23, 2010 5:36 pm

well i was browsing Outdoor emp. today, and came accross a UL Ugly stick and reel combo. No price on it. so i got it for $8.98. Couldn't resist.

Last season i had a blast with the mighty mite UL rod reel combo. The ONLY draw back was it was a 2' rod and made reeling jerky when you had a fish on.

Mighty Mite has now corrected that fault and is offering a 4' UL rod combo.

But for under $10 i couldn't resist this little ugly stick. woulda gotten another if they had had it.

Oh i did make the concession of 6# P-Line since i also want to use it for flounder off of Cameno Island this summer.

Should make for an awesome UL trout rod.

I own 4 different Ugly Stik rods for various purposes (not the only rod I buy, but for the price you cant really beat them). I actually closed the front 2 feet of my 9.5 ft Med/Heavy Ugly Stik rod that I use for fishing kings in the river in my truck door (hard enough that the door latched shut) and the rod didn't break nor did it even leave a crease! I still use the rod to this day and landed upwards of 20 kings on it last season :)

I recently purchased an Okuma SST kokanee rod because I was looking for a light/UL baitcaster setup to run off the downrigger and when trolling and let me tell you I have been very pleased with this product. I prefer baitcast reals when trolling because of their far superior drag systems. Coupled with a tiny Abu Garcia Black Max Ambassaduer it is quickly becoming my favorite lake rod. Although the 100$ that I spent on the combo is a far cry from the 9$ you got yours for! Nice score!
